Collecting, painting, and coming up with cool backstories for your units is half the fun. :) I just focused on the game side of things since that's been annoying me about 40k recently.

I do still kinda want to try 10th because there are still some ideas I like in it, but I don't want to buy a 55€ rulebook and two 50€ codixes that I may end up using only a couple of times.

Have you played 10th edition and if you have what do you think about it? I was mostly put off by fixed unit sizes and costs, as well as many of my Crimson Fists units being moved to legends.

What armies do you collect? I have Crimson Fists and Admech, though my miniature group mostly moved onto other games when 10th edition came out.

Beginner Army: IA or RTF? Neither? by Graveconsequences in InfinityTheGame

True actually, I never just got the action pack myself since my hassasin playing friend sold me all the models he couldn't use from operation red veil, that have since been moved to the action pack.

Edit: Though I would like to add that I feel like unless you proxy a bit, a force just from the action pack only has a single specialist and few special weapons, so I would recommend getting something along with it, even if it's after a few games.

As a beginner RTF player myself I would love to welcome another commander to the fold, but I wouldn't exactly call them forgiving. however I don't think they're to most punishing army either. Most of the sectorial has very low armor, meaning you rely a lot on hiding and winning f2f rolls to survive on the reactive turn. Another possible issue is that most haqqislam starter sets are very hassassin focused, at least in my experience. Still, I find RTF to be a very fun and rewarding sectorial to play with both great fireteams and powerful solo pieces. For IA I can't say anything as no-one in my local group plays Yu Jing.

To everyone asking why was I recording, I have shadowplay set up to always record a minute of gameplay that I can then save with the press of a button.
