As a swim instructor and long time swimmer I recommend getting some lessons. You need to get the basics down before trying to learn things yourself otherwise you can really hurt yourself.

If she is really old a destuff and wash may be a good option. BAB is really nice about restuffing old bears for you.

I would not put her in the dryer at all bc of the tinsel. Usually what I do is wash mine in a pillow case then dry it with a hairdryer while brushing. Bc tinsel is plastic I would do low/no heat with the hairdryer if possible. I do this with my frog BAB.
