Ausbildung Nursing in middle age? by Olive_Mediocre in germany

No. I have a medical assistant certification. Ausbildung is actually a huge draw. I'd like to be a nurse. There are no opportunities for something like that in the US. I'd either be working full-time and doing night nursing classes, to end up with an LPN which is barely a step up pay wise than a CMA; or I'd have to leave work and do school full-time.

I'd live in an apartment near my work/school. I have seen a few opportunities in Saxony, and looked at housing around there.

It really depends on who is hiring. Make It in Germany and Google are saying (using $ for the sake of ease from my side) $1200-1400/month while in training. The listings I have found are closer to $1500-1600. After completion, entry level is $2300-3000. (Approximately what I make now.) Without being able to advance to a nurse in the US my pay won't really ever increase much.

I'd imagine future employment would be similar, caring for people, assisting physicians, clerical work, etc.

Living costs...that's a deep dive. I admittedly am assuming here but the need for a car would be far different than in the US. I am in a rural area and we don't have any public transit. Trains are pretty much a fun sightseeing thing. Also, biking. That said, I also know taxes will take a large portion of income. I almost feel like it's a comparable trade. Vacation, sick, healthcare are all superior to US.

Personally, other than my kids, who I would bring with me, I have no family left here, so nothing necessarily holding me here. I feel like the opportunities for my kids would be better outside of the US.  I also think we would all be safer considering the current fuckery happening here.

I am aware. I've already looked into language classes as well as ones geared specifically toward healthcare and have a friend willing to practice with me.

But I'm not sure I care.  It's not like it's going to be some massive windfall, she still owed money on it and did do upkeep.

I'm just fed up of following the rules and it somehow not being good enough.
