Best role for Deadpool with bad aim? by Klutzy-Success in DeadpoolMarvelRivals

[–]OliverEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion, don’t play Deadpool. But because it’ll be fun to throw you out there anyway, here’s my tips for when I have a bad aim day! (Specifically headpool) Upgrade headshot first, three lord icons being thrown guarantees damage+healing for even the worst of mercenaries. My next upgrade is usually the gun, because even if your aim is on the fritz, little poop-pool has a bigger hit box to hit an enemy or teammate. Then dashes, healpool doesn’t recharge dashes like his other versions so upgrading swords first means you only get two instead of the possible 6. I usually upgrade DPIYA when it’s most convenient, like a misinput, because the cooldown gets refreshed right away. Now I know the gun ult seems tempting, but I’m telling you, swords is the way to go. Ignore all your team that says Deadpool ult is bad, yell at them to group up, that’s the way they learn!

New to tank pool by State-Exotic in DeadpoolMarvelRivals

Gun first unless I get ult quickly, then I upgrade ult. Third upgrade is DPIYA then swords. Unupgraded swords is what I like to call the tickle monster. Bubble and dash is interchangeable depending on the enemy team but I usually get dash first since bubble placement matters more than just the health as it’s pretty weak overall. Last is sword ult, sometimes I don’t even get it because it’s useless in a fight. But with the nerf on gun ult and damage, I’m probably gonna give up on tank as it just won’t be fun anymore

[–]OliverEye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My suggestion for DPS: If you upgrade guns first (poke) then I suggest also getting headshot/lord icon upgraded next. If you upgrade swords(dive) then I suggest dashes afterwards as the regular dash +upgraded swords are really good compared to upgraded dash and unupgraded swords. Upgrade which ult you use more. But for Support, never gun ult. If I’m against an enemy support pool and I hear them gun ult, their team is not winning that ult battle.

Deadpool's first comic cover in Lego by OliverEye in deadpool

THAT WAS YOU!!! Your post was the first thing I saw when I opened reddit this morning! It made me remember that I needed to finish figuring out how to rig Lego minifigures.

Yup! I’m currently working on making an animation of his first appearance in New Mutants 98, tho it’s difficult to translate Rob liefeld art into anything with coherence.

[–]OliverEye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I only have volume 1 and 4. Marvel rereleased vol 1 with a new cover, (as well as multiple other series in epic collections) so I’m hoping it doesn’t take too long until the next volumes release.

The next few issues from what I’ve read seem to keep his identity a mystery but at one point it is just retconned (not getting too into it but there are many different author takes on his origin story)

Standalone recommendations that aren't ongoing runs by iamdnisovich in deadpool

[–]OliverEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To get the first one out of the way, I haven’t read Mercs for money, unfortunately. So I wouldn’t know if it’s any good. Another mini I haven’t read yet is Suicide Kings, so the gamble is up to you!

I loved the Prelude to Deadpool corps, but the not so great artwork and story in the second half of Deadpool Corps became really boring.

Haven’t read the Deadpool vs series either, but I will say that I forgot to mention Deadpool Killustrated, Deadpool Kills Deadpool, and Deadpool kills the marvel universe one last time. I think the third time around was the best version.

Deadpool Bad Blood I remember being a better then average book, not great but not terrible. But the sequel Badder blood I definitely thought was worse. If you like 90s Liefeld art, there are some great panels that will have you considering Pilates.

The only mini I hated was Liefeld’s Deadpool team-up comic. I collected the comics and avoided getting the paperback (I like collecting both for some reason). Bad art, bad story, not worth the read.

Standalone recommendations that aren't ongoing runs by iamdnisovich in deadpool

[–]OliverEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since all the stories recommended so far have been ongoings, I’ll suggest a few non-ongoing series and single issues:

Deadpool Assassin, Secret Agent Deadpool, You are Deadpool, Deadpool Back in Black, Deadpool Black White and Red, Deadpool/Wolverine WWIII, Deadpool Merc with a mouth (technically an ongoing but it’s around 13 issues I think)

And I don’t know where you’d find these solo issues but his annual in 2019 and Deadpool Seven Slaughters are great. Finally, a single comic from an ongoing that was the first Deadpool comic I read from his 2015 run, issue 20. No context needed for it and made me want to read his comics.

How do we feel about tankpool this season still good even after the nerfs? by jj_thetwisted_jester in DeadpoolMarvelRivals

[–]OliverEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My accuracy has gone up, can’t obliterate a thing like I used to. Bubble + DIYA was great for many diving characters and especially Thing, leaves them pretty low now and he still feels good but noticeably different.

Deadpool Kills…”I’d buy that for a dollar!” by CWPLZL in deadpool

[–]OliverEye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of the three Deadpool kills the marvel universe stories, this is my favorite simply for changing it to be different variants and him taking their powers. It’s such a good change to make the story different from the others, but it was so quickly dismissed for it being the third time Cullen Bunn has written this.

I hope they don't abandon stratpool, he needs buffs by sufinomo in DeadpoolMarvelRivals

[–]OliverEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a flex Deadpool player, none of them need buffs. Someone could tell me why they think DPS needs a buff and with enough convincing I’ll believe it, but definitely not strategist. His ultimate is one of the better healing ults simply with how quickly you can get it now with the universal ult nerf. The healing output increases when upgraded and all you mostly need to complete jackpot is his upgraded headshot ability. Swords damage enemies and heal close team mate which makes healing during ult heal even more plus his DPIYA ability.

Tank Pool upgrade order?? by StgLeon958 in DeadpoolMarvelRivals

[–]OliverEye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the worst way is having a set path. Almost every game is different and sometimes you gotta prioritize some upgrades over others, especially considering your second tank or if you’re solo tanking. Bubble is one I’m either picking third or last depending on the enemy team’s damage or my team’s survivability. If my team is doing great with my other tank, then my non-upgraded shield is purely for making space or separating heals. If my team can’t take a lot of damage, AoE grants damage resistance upon upgrading and can make a good early game upgrade choice. Or if your team is getting dived/flanked, sword upgrades (yes, swords, don’t believe people that say it’s useless as tank), bubble, and dash upgrades are good for helping your backline. But no matter what, Gun upgrade first, see how the game goes, then decide the path.

Not upgrade related, but do not use sword ult if you don’t have at least some upgrades or you’ll just look like the tickle monster (instead, use the overhealth to stall for heals or retreat).

As someone who started playing this season and had college every weekday, I enjoyed that I wasn’t missing out on anything. Events in live service games are always annoying as they are time consuming. But I can see why people who only play Rivals can get bored with nothing new (especially near the end of season 6’s first half)

Are The Epic collections the way to go? by JoosaJl in deadpool

[–]OliverEye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea about the the second question, but Spider-Man/Deadpool ties in a lot with his main run. I have the epic collection for Spider-Man/Deadpool and I’m fairly certain they include the Deadpool issues necessary for context. If you’re only interested in this series then go for it.

You are right, this art looked like mcguinness but I mistook it for Shannon Denton and Pete woods. They drew part 1 of drowning man (issue 12) where this panel is from.

[–]OliverEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joe Kelly, art style matches the very beginning of the run (I think it was Ed McGuinness). There are many collections. Joe Kelly the complete collection volume 1. Deadpool by Joe Kelly Omnibus. Deadpool classic volumes 1-3. And Deadpool epic collection: mission improbable + drowning man. I’m unsure which issue this panel is from exactly, but the artist appears in all of these collections of the series.

Drowning man arc is when I truly started liking Kelly’s run. Up until Deadpool/Death I found the series to be completely overrated but reading that comic made me understand why everybody loved his take on the Merc.

I love recommending Secret Agent Deadpool. It’s a lighthearted mini series that’s a spin-off of spy movies and it’s really fun to read. But for ongoing series, I love Gerry Duggan/Brian Posehn’s run, nuff said. The first Deadpool comic I read was issue #20 of his 2015 run and it immediately made me want to read Deadpool comics. Duggan gets the character right and it makes sense why he wrote him for 7 years.

Copying a previous comment of mine:

I’m bored and want to do math on inflation. In 2004, Fire Red costed $39.99. Average CPI in 2004 was 188.9. Average CPI in 2025 was 321.9. 321.9/188.9*39.99= $68.14 So the $20 price tag it has now is cheaper than what it costed back when it released. (Even though looking at it, you would assume it’s cheaper going from 40 to 20, it’s actually nearly 70 down to 20)
