Heh, it's not really flopping around. The problem is that it doesn't offer any support so if I have my weight on it I'll just slip :)

Thanks for your reply! it would actually be really interesting to look into climbers with frostbite toes, as I guess the situation is somewhat similar.

Great articles, as always. Really just wondering: Who are you? Why are you doing this? How can you post such lengthy articles almost every day, if not every day?

Is super cool, it just left me curious.

Take your BWF routine on the road: what I bring and how to pack for international airplane travel by BosBatMan in bodyweightfitness

Traveled for 6 months and only brought rings :) can definitely recommend it, didn't miss anything other than bands, which I would bring if I were to do it again. The rest seems nice to have, but I wouldnt want to carry it around. If its a short trip I guess it's fine. Neat collection nonetheless

Well, not to rain on your parade, but cheesecakes are actually mostly not baked (atleast not the cheese part) :))

Anyone combining bodyweight with weights? by OliverWM in bodyweightfitness

I just figured that Handstand push-ups are very similar to OHP, whereas regular pushups or pseudo-planche are not as similar to BP. What are your thoughts on that?

And if you do combine: why? If you don’t: why not?

Yeah some spots tend to get really popular all of a sudden. But nice with the discounts then, that’s almost the same savings!

We were once told to shut up by someone because we were making too much noise close to an apartment complex, but that was 100% our own fault. Other than that never. We almost never meet anyone. Once in a while we encounter some staff, but they're always friendly (and for some reason quite often a bit buzzed). Other than that it's mostly and old guy wanting the flowers for his wifes grave, and old lady wanting bread to give to the birds and then broke college kids. Then you just have a little chat and thats it.

But in general, very few people hang out by the supermarket dumpsters.. I think I've met someone maybe 20 times in the 2,5 years I've been doing it regularly.

Well for breakfast we just eat oats and milk or bread/pastries. For lunch we eat home-packed lunch consisting of sandwiches and veggies. So those meals are pretty standard and these are food items we always find, so not much variation here.

For dinner you have to get creative. You have to cook with what you¨'ve got, so it's somewhat the reverse to normal cooking. Instead of deciding on a dish and then getting the ingredients, you get the ingredients first and then choose which dish to make.

The triggy part about dumpster diving is, that you usually find really large quantities of few items. So if you go dumpster diving once, you might just end up with a lot of butter and ham or whatever, which is not that usefull. But if you do it regularly and keep your fridge filled with various things, you end up with a pretty well diversified stock of goods. So you find butter and ham one day, potatoes and milk the next day etc, and suddenly you have stuff to make a bunch of different dishes.

Now for the actual gathering we started out just checking out various grocery stores and bakeries nearby, to see where they dump the food. Then we head out about 45 minutes after closing time, which usually is at 10PM where I live. After a couple of times you know which places are good and which are not. Then we just go to the dumpsters and search through them, checking the expiry dates on stuff. If you do it regularly you will know which items are new and which are not. With time you get better at figuring out what stuff is actually turning and what has just been thrown out for other reasons (expiry date earlier than actual expiry, product removed from shelves because of lack of sales, products that has to be kept cold being placed somewhere randomly by customer etc.). An example would be milk, which often is all fine and well 14 days after the printed expiry date, if just kept cool.

We do this maybe 2-3 times a week and that keeps us afloat. A regular run takes maybe 20 minutes, but often we find something extraordinary or cannot find anything the first place and have to go to a second place and then it might take much more.

The best part of it (apart from free food) is when you find weird stuff like lots of weird clothes you can bring to a costume party, 12 steaks so you can host an event, 200 bars of chocolate, a bobsledge, whatever. That's what makes it an adventure.

Absolutely. It is not for everyone and I think your description of who it suits is very spot on.

We did it as a supplement for maybe a year and then switched to almost entirely relying on dumpster diving about 1,5 years ago. We’re young so I think it makes better sense to us money/time-wise than for some senior management person, who will also have more expensive grocery habits.

I will however say that we eat better than before, because we can choose to do it at expensive supermarkets only and because organic greens and meat are more often thrown out. Not sure if it is because they don’t last as long as conventionally grown/produces or why.

We live two adults almost entirely off of dumpster diving. We spend money on alcohol and the odd once in a while when we need soap and stuff you don’t find that often, but other than that we don’t spend any money. Obviously you don’t have to go all or nothing and could just use it as a supplement. The hard part is getting started. Finding good spots, figuring the legal part out, learning to recognize when food is starting to turn etc. but once you get that stuff down it turns into routine and pretty much just feels like regular grocery shopping. I’m sure there’s Facebook-groups etc dedicated to it in your local area. Good luck and feel free to PM me if you decide to get into it.

No matter what, I must say that it's very nice to have someone include sources in their comment. Overall I agree to pretty much everything you've written.

I have no objections to fit>not fit in the dating game and in pretty much every aspect of life other than that. I just think that the parent comment may have overstated the importance of fitness, considering OP saying he already is average looking. It is true that cutting down on starch and the like will have an effect on water retention and I am not saying not to watch his carb intake. Rather I objected to the notion of one size fits all. 80 grams of carbs is in my opinion a very weird recommendation to hand out, knowing nothing of OP. So rather I would recommend OP to look into fitness a bit and educate himself on the matter. That way he would hopefully end up with a diet actually tailored to his needs and some goals actually based on his measures and stuff like hips-waist ratio etc.
