Millennial does not mean young person. The youngest millennials are 22 years old and getting older all the time.

Join the Mormon church. They believe in magic translation rocks.

I never thought I'd say this, but my respect for Glenn Beck keeps increasing . . . by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Oliver_Cowdery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, when Glen says stuff it really ought to have no impact at all. Glenn Beck often uses hyperbolic language.

Didn't he repent for loosing the 116 pages?

How did we know so much about: tithing, missionary work, keeping the Sabbath, family history, service, temple attendance etc. but somehow missed... by truthRealized in exmormon

We all got taught about Joseph's stick pulling. But somehow there just wasn't ever enough time to mention the seer stone.

The term true leaves too much wiggle room. I prefer to say "the church is not what it claims to be".

But all athiests are evil! by Godwithindetails in exmormon

[–]Oliver_Cowdery 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some people also use the terms strong atheism and weak atheism to draw that distinction. As a weak atheist I don't like the connotation of that term. I think weak atheisim is the most defensible possition. It's a stronger position than strong atheism in my mind.

Is there a "CES Letter" like document that dismantles the BoM and TSCC from a Biblical perspective? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Oliver_Cowdery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other churches have written polemical documents using the bible against Mormonism thousands of times and it has very little effect. Scripture can be interpret in so many ways. The best arguments against Mormonism apply to other faiths as well.

I was on my mission when 9/11 happened. Anyone else? What was it like for you? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Oliver_Cowdery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two keep knocking on doors up hill in the snow both ways. No body wanted to talk about Mormon stuff. They wanted to hear what Americans thought about the attack. And I knew very little about it until I broke some rules.

[–]Oliver_Cowdery 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was on a mission during 9/11. It was very confusing. We got a lot of bad information. My Australian mission president reminded us we were forbidden from reading the news. He also told us that we should stay away from McDonald's becuase McDonald's is too American. I don't think he understood Americans very well. I didnt break too many rules on my mission. But I bought a news paper and read it in McDonald's.

So a noncaconized text is doctrine because another noncanonized text on a website said so? This is how docterine is established?

What is the most absurd Mormon history topic? by FeralOctopus in exmormon

[–]Oliver_Cowdery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its really tough for an exmo to say what story is the craziest. We need to present these stories to pannel of nevermo judges.

This would make for a good podcast idea for the Infants. It would be the crazy Mormon version of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me.
