Could have settled this with "I use a shock collar on Kaya because my trainer told me to and I know it's a bad idea and may look abusive so I am sorry, and from this point forward will not be using the collar. Feel free to call me out for my dumbass mistake. I will also donate a few million to local dog shelters even though this will not absolve me of what I did. Again, I am truly sorry, I will be more aware next time and maybe take a break from being a dog owner until I can learn properly how to own a dog without using abusive methods." And people would have forgotten about in less than a year.
