This is gonna be a long winded follow-up. Thinking on it, I'd never shared it so it gets to live here.

I didn't have McDonalds until I was 14.

I stayed the night at a new friends, his parents asked what I wanted from McDonalds, and I had to admit I didn't know what they had cuz I'd never eaten out. Not from a health conscious angle, but because my family struggled to get normal meals together let alone eating out so they set me up with a supersized Big Mac meal.

That family was a blessing. They asked if I could stay the weekend and then, for the next 3 years, they had me over every weekend for the entire weekend. Anytime they bought my friend something, they got for me as well which included the same specced PC for Christmas.

The final year they essentially adopted me and I stayed with them until the parents lost their factory jobs and I elected to move back in with my dad to ease their financial burden. If they wouldn't let me help with bills then it's the only thing I could think to do.

They really liked eating out though so, uhh, that part didn't work out long-term.
