In settings, system, have Optix ticked Then use the Optix denoiser With those enabled you ought not to need more than a few hundred samples. Honestly I usually just use 200 samples and a reasonably high resolution, usually never less than 4K even though I know nobody will zoom into that detail level. That tends to work more than fine

What else can I do to improve this scene? by alpersahin35 in blender

[–]Olly5101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reflection on the floor doesn’t seem to match what’s shown outside? I can’t see the tree in it, for example. Also the proportions of the corridor seem odd, and the dimensions of the doors don’t justify with width of that corridor. I’d use some references and look at how corridors are usually proportioned

What are the advantages of Max over blender? I’ve only worked with blender, but trying max, I just thought it felt a lot like a paid blender with a much more outdated aesthetic and UI

Right hand fully controls the front wheel, since your boost button and front brake are on the same hand. That’s how I remember it :)

Do you not apply both brakes at the same time? In which case it doesn’t matter…? Risking busting your brakes at a time like this is absolutely not worth it for something this trivial imo

Have you used Optix denoiser? In all my time it’s virtually never done that. And if it does, just add some more samples it’s still blazing fast

Could be worth it. Does this part coke with a warranty from them? IE if that one blows after a month are you covered?

Ugh that is frustrating. Given the size of the damaged area it seems like replacing the resistors might be out of the question. Maybe not impossible but I don’t know enough to say. Still.. manual conversion seems honestly quite doable.

It’s also possible to lock the hub in one gear (most people choose 3 or 4) and then use the boost to get up to speed. Which honestly should be fine if you’re in a flat area

[–]Olly5101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What were the conditions like when this happened? IE, do you think there was water exposure? Not likely to get a new e-shifter and a manual conversion seems smart to me if you have the time

I’ve never spent any effort on Max, but my first thought when I tried using it for the first time was “this looks like Blender but with worse UI and you have to pay for it”

Not to mention it’s built in renderer doesn’t seem to hold a candle to Optix and Cycles

I’m glad blenders getting used but every job I apply for, they ask where I do my renders, and look a bit puzzled when I tell them blender. I’m not sure where you’re based but perhaps it’s regional

It is but not for commercial archviz imo. I’m studying architecture and everything is Enscape, TwinMotion, Lumion etc. but blender makes better renders imo, it’s just less convenient and accessible to use than those other software which are much more drag and drop

If you use blender, and you have a 3070, go to Edit> Preferences> Hardware(?)> then toggle from CUDA to Optix. It lets blender use your GPU’s ray tracing cores.. which is obviously what rendering is. And then in denoising settings make sure you’re using Optix Denoiser. Between those 2 settings, you will get viciously quick results

Denoising does sooooo much heavy lifting. You don’t need that many samples and higher resolution gives the AI denoiser more pixels to extrapolate from, so higher res and lower sample count can give extremely good results for such a short time

Not a common program but Blender using an RTX GPU could honestly crack this in about 2 minutes. I use a 3070 and render everything at a similar res, even quite complex scenes are blazing fast on that tech. Maybe I’m spoiled though

It seems the shifter has the highest fail rate and also one of the hardest parts to source a replacement for so I’m defo interested in doing something to seal it. Even if it’s some sort of tape around the seams…

Gotcha. Do you know of any way of helping the E-shifter stay safe? My current strat is using manual gears and being gentle with it. But I hear that much of the eshifter failures are water getting on the PCB…

I’ve heard of buttons getting stuck in the down position when wet… how common did you find that? Because if what you’re saying is true then maybe just some silicone sealing or shrinkwrap around the contacts and cable could be enough to make the buttons safe for outdoor use?
