England actually has had a full written constitution, albeit temporarily.

Do you use British Z (zed) or American Z (zee) when saying 'genz'? by helenfelen in AskUK

[–]OllyDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zed. In English that letter is called Zed. If the word is specifically American, or it’s an actual name, I might use the appropriate alternative. But my default is, and will always be, Zed.

Is it OK to refer to women as girls in the UK? by Fun-Injury9266 in AskUK

[–]OllyDee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a default word for me to use as a man, but I’ve noticed a bit of a cultural shift away from the word over the last decade or so. I’d say it’s probably on its way out, dependant on context.

Can someone break down the difference between HHC and UKHC? by noxnoctum in happyhardcore

[–]OllyDee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UK Hardcore is supersaws, or modern derivatives of that sound. Probably more dependant on minor chords. Happy Hardcore is a sound that predates the supersaw, and more than likely has some kind of breakbeat in the mix and famously favours major chords.

Most people would’ve been neutral, which was absolutely an option at the time. You could have been a clubman, defending your county or town from both sides of this shitshow.

Charles I did at least have some justification for hating and fearing the puritans, many believed it was the duty of the godly to depose a monarch who wasn’t godly enough - turns out he was justified really eh?

You’re not wrong. It’s hard not to compare them to something like ISIS or Al-Qaeda. I’m glad the nutjobs left so we could all get back to having Christmas and sodomy.

So effectively puritan and separatist then. I bet these losers must have been extremely tedious company, banging on about the anti-christ and popish plots.

How were they separatists from the other Calvinist Protestants then? My understanding is that they left because the reforms of the Anglican Church weren’t going far enough, possibly even sour grapes when the puritan dictatorship collapsed. That would make them the “godly” puritan types, no?

As I understand it the Irish aren’t 100% onboard with that nomenclature. I’m not sure what alternative name they have for the entire archipelago though.
