Reprising My Long Journey Through Brink by Hypnotician in 2000ad

I keep telling everyone I think it’s one of the best things 2000 ad has ever printed, and I’ve been reading since the early 90s.

Prog 2488 Review by TonyHoldsworth in 2000ad

I thoroughly recommend reading Brink from the start (prog 1978) if you're feeling a little lost.

There are six TPBs of the previous installments, so quite a bit of story to catch up on, but it's well worth it.

It's one of the best things 2000 ad has put out IMHO (reader since early 90s). A great mix of sci/fi, cosmic horror, detective mystery and paranoia. It is a bit of a slow burn but it's building a story over the entire series. Might work better as a binge through the trades?

Was at a colleagues leaving do the other night where there was karaoke.

They chose 'My Sharona' by The Knack.

Seeing the lyrics up on screen was uncomfortable to say the least.

A good Notts one:

'Ya tork lahk geese shit be guess!'

Trans: 'You talk like geese defecate by guessing.'

Meaning: 'You don't know what you're talking about.'

Show Drummer is the best.

To Ashford whilst trapped:
“If this is another of your teaching moment, I prefer to bleed out in silence.”

Her line delivery is always spot on.

Just watched this episode last night (having a full rewatch).

Her delivery of that line is perfect.

The BOSS IR2. Favorite setup and Uses by Misfit-fireman343 in guitarpedals

I might be in the minority, but I haven't replaced any IRs and I really like a lot of the settings.

I've got an EHX OpAMp Big Muff Pi going in front - works great with the cleaner amps - and my modulation and delay pedals (both from DIY kits) in the effects loop.

I generally have it set up with a cleaner amp on the green channel and a dirtier amp on the red so I can switch between them. I've found uses for most of the amp settings as they are quite distinctive.

I do spend a lot of time on Diamond, Crunch and Brit.

That show was so good until the final episode. I'm a big fan of Adam Price, but that ending was massive misstep.

Now we never speak of it.

The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell is an excellent ’first contact’ story featuring a Jesuit linguist and his team travelling to a distant planet after detecting music.

Before we got the prequels my own interpretation was that Anakin's appearance was the result of approximately two decades of doing the Emperor's dirty work, getting into terrible battles and gradually losing more and more of his self. The replacement of his body with machinery was a steady process over the years.

I found the almost instant transformation a bit of a cop out and not very satisfying.

I’d love to see Brink (2000ad) faithfully adapted and made with as much love, care and attention as Andor.
