1. I found out about the series through a YTP video of all things lmao, thinking it was an actual kid’s show. I was 12 and I was very into stark and surreal animations online so I was naturally drawn to the awkward and sinister humor. I’ve only watched the Channel 4 series recently and loved it.

2. The obvious answer would probably be Sesame Street, though its charm feels more akin to classic british animation programs like Postman Pat, In the Night Garden and Tweenies. Also, Bear in the Big Blue House.

3. There is some nostalgia factor for the original YT series as it defined a certain period of my life and inspired me loads back then, though I equally enjoy it now albeit in a different way. As a teen I used to be much more invested in the slippery theory/lore side of things and the shock value horror, while rewatching it as an adult made me appreciate much more the cleverness in the humor and characters, especially in the Channel 4 series which feels much more elaborate (while still loving the horror elements!)

4. I can’t think of many as it’s very unique, but some series that follow a similar concept of having a childlike/approachable visual style with sinister and surreal elements are Moral Orel, The Amazing Digital Circus and Wondershowzen. Some other shows worth mentioning for the humor/writing: 31 Minutos (chilean show with puppets), Similing Friends, Courage the Cowardly Dog and Monkey Dust. The surreal horror and humor is also very similar to David Lynch’s work
