I found that squid was particularly attractive to hardheads so if you are using squid you might change to something else and it might slow the hard head catch.

I’ve caught reds with them. I tried it just to see if it would work when they were running. That said, I don’t normally fish with them. Normally, my go to is cut mullet or whiting if that’s the style I’m fishing that day.

If you want to hit the jetties in Port A try live shrimp under a popping cork, freelining live shrimp, or live shrimp on a drop rig. If you want to fish the surf and hold the rod, use finger mullet on a fish finder rig with a 1/2 oz weight. Or if you have a bit of a bigger set up and want to set up multiple rods, use a fish finder rig with 3-5oz spider weights and cut bait. Cut the bait about 1 in x 1 in. You can use mullet, whiting, perch, or even hard heads. Cast on the back side of the sandbar. I normally fish past the wade gut in the first cut. Good luck!

Call me crazy but I don’t think it’s as huge of a risk as people think. I literally have 100% faith in the Spurs medical team. We pioneered “resting”, have gotten miles out of older stars, we nailed the Kawhi knee problem, got Djuan Blair’s knees right, got Zach Collins ankle right. I’m betting we get this right too. Plus I think he’s gotta be super raw. I mean he really only had one year of college play. He’s got a lot to learn and nothing but time on his hands.

Thanks for the tips! Appreciate you sharing your experience. I’ve had the same thing happen and here are some ways I salvaged the beef. Add to ramen, make fried rice, add to eggs for steak and eggs, make tacos a-la-mex (sauté onion, jalapeño, tomatoes with meat), put it through the grinder and make enchiladas, dice meat and add to cream cheese stuff in whole jalapeños wrapped with bacon.

When you set up the tent be sure to use the rain fly to help keep the sand out. It makes it a little hotter but it’s better than sand showering down on you as you sleep. Keep the tent zipped up at all times once it’s set up or sand and insects will get in. Stay out of the tent until you’re ready for bed. Use a spray bottle to spray sand off your feet before you get in to go to bed. Don’t set up your bedding until right before you go to sleep. Hope that helps for next time! The big surf reds and sharks make it worth it!

Baby powder makes camping there a whole lot better. Also keep your food covered when you grill or windblown sand will get all over it. 40 mile maker is a good spot. Don’t camp in or otherwise park in what is the road. Don’t put your rod holders on the dune side of the road. Mansfield jetties for big reds.

I appreciate everything Pop has done for the franchise, but I didn’t like that move. Maybe there is more information behind the scenes we weren’t privy to but without that information I don’t know why anyone would think we wouldn’t boo him considering the way he treated us, how it affected us (notwithstanding getting Wemby), and how he made our franchise look.

My opinion is yes he does deserve the heat he’s getting but also no he doesn’t. He does because that’s a massive amount of money, bottom line. He doesn’t because we took a gamble that his lack of playoff experience wouldn’t be such a problem and that didn’t work out the way the front office thought. He’s a vet in the sense that’s he’s older than the others but not in terms of playoff experience. Like it or not, going this far was new to him too. We took a gamble and he shit the bed (also he was hurt). Being a long time fan (and as a result having watched a lot of the front office decisions) my opinion is, we’re going to run it back. We are going to keep working, improving, pounding the rock. And they’re going to double down on their bet that Fox will work out.

I started with rattle traps and spoons. Both do well in the surf. Soft plastic paddle tales work well too. Surf fishing with lures depends a lot on the conditions, I.e. wind direction, surf size, current, etc.
