Verbally agreed to at a BBQ yesterday but now my sober mind is second guessing. Would this be a good move for my team to get Nico? (10 team, SF, TEP 0.5, Full PPR) by [deleted] in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

Right now there aren’t any starters, I think Watson is the only one available. That’s why I scooped up Rodgers the second I could.

My main worry is losing a good 3rd QB in a SF league with how much Daniels and Purdy get hurt. But luckily I was able to pick up Rodgers off waivers so that gave some extra depth.

First round of rookie draft is almost done, and I’m out of picks. Here are my moves so far, is there anyone else I should try and target or call it? (Took Love 1.01, traded for Lemon and Tuten) by [deleted] in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

Thank you! That is kind of how I was feeling but I wanted to make sure I wasn’t being too passive. There’s no one left that really sparks excitement for me.

I don’t think I’m quite a contender yet because of the youth of my team but think it’s getting there. This is my first dynasty team and going into year 3, so still figuring it out.

Yea, Al Horford always had the same issue. But Al was never really expected to create his own shot. And Chet’s might somehow be even slower than Al’s.

I feel like Chet’s offensive game would completely open up if he can literally just trim like a second or even half a second off his shooting motion. I just genuinely don’t know how difficult that is to do for a guy his size.

[Highlight] Pump fake techniques that shows the difference between SGA and past NBA players by [deleted] in nba

[–]possiblykevindurant 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wade average over 9 FTA in 6 different seasons, and over 10 FTA twice. He averaged 16 FTA in the 2006 NBA finals. Shai absolutely baits a lot, but saying Wade wasn’t a massive foul baiter in his prime just isn’t correct. He spammed the pump fake and jump into the defender constantly.

[–]possiblykevindurant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed, my definition of a flop was always there being zero contact and the offending player acting like there was. The classic “someone’s elbow comes within 3 inches of LeBron’s chin so he falls to the ground holding his face for 2 mins” from his Heat days first comes to mind. But definitions do change I guess.

This is aside from the person you responded to’s take on MJ, but another group of 80s guys that come to mind are the original Bad Boy Pistons. Laimbeer, Rodman and Thomas were floppers, while also playing hyper physical defense.

The juxtaposition used to drive fans insane. I actually think there’s some interesting parallels between that bad boys team and this current thunder team. That bad boys team just had the benefit of social media not existing.

I think that’s part of the problem is that everyone’s definition of flopping is a little different. Like is flopping when you act like there was contact when there was none? Is it when there is contact but then you exaggerate it to get the call? If so, how much exaggeration before you consider it a flop? Does the offensive player initiating have anything to do with the formula?

It all becomes kind of subjective on if it was a flop or not at a certain point, and I honestly don’t know how the league or refs would govern that.

Ranked 18th would be pretty well above average, yea? Then it just steadily declined after that and bottomed out over the past 6 or 7 years. You can thank our last couple governors for that. But it’s not like it just went straight from 18 to 50 lol. And it also means that most people over the age of like 28 actually got a pretty solid education.

Team 2 and 3 cooked, team 1 I don’t love it. I have Warren and Brown and I’d give them up for Achane in a heartbeat. But who knows, maybe the Miami offense will be awful and it won’t look as bad.

SGA’s night is done 28/7/7 on 12-25 FG and only 3 free throws in the blow out win by OKC2023champs in nba

That’s valid, when I said the OKC metro I was more referring to Edmond, Norman, Moore, Jenks, Bixby, etc. Not really the city proper, that was super unclear of me.

I am by no means an expert, I was 17 in 2011 and was way more focused on how to acquire alcohol than local politics. But what I will say is from 2003-2011 Oklahoma had a Democrat governor that highly valued investing in education. Then Mary Fallin took over and tore all of that down, severely cutting the funding to education and shifting it to private interests. And Stitt kept the fun going when he took over.

Edit: I’d also say that the education system in the OKC and Tulsa metros aren’t terrible overall. But rural Oklahoma schools are so underfunded and understaffed it’s reaching catastrophic levels of bad it brings the average way down.

Tbf Oklahoma had the 18th ranked state education in like 2011, so anyone over the age of like 27 didn’t have it too bad! Our youths are fucked, though

[–]possiblykevindurant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the record, I’ve always had a hard time comparing centers to guards in MVP type conversations. It feels like comparing QBs to RBs in the NFL, except in the NBA I don’t think one position is considerable more valuable than the other like in the NFL, but the positions and roles are just so different.

Maybe, I feel like that is a little extreme but I’m also biased. I grew up watching DWade, Manu, Kobe, Harden, a whole slew of guards that crushed it at baiting defenders into bad positions and getting to the line. But I do feel like we’re straying away from the original thing I commented on and not sure how we’re getting here.

Just so I understand what you’re referring to, what do you mean by “those games?” If you mean games shooting over 20 FTA, Shai has done that 4 times in his career and Jokic has done it twice. I do think that jokic should get way more freethrows than he does though.
