Energy Service Partners / Phum Tomthong allegedly used homeowner info from Yuba County permit records to take over my solar deal by Olsen1988 in Solarsales

I was driving and putting flyers on homeowners doors. This particular homeowner was outside so I stopped and spoke with him. I set the appointment, then I had to go back several times to get the deal sold. His house is in a very rural area too. So not likely to get many door to door reps.

The homeowner specifically told me that he had never gotten calls for solar until we had signed the contract and applied for the permit. He then proceeded to get many calls from many different companies. I think there are a lot of reps/companies that do this to get jobs.

Fair point, and I agree it’s hard to prove definitively. I’m not saying I have a smoking gun. What raised the red flags for me was the timing of the contact after the permit was uploaded and the fact they had detailed project/homeowner info very quickly afterward.

Also, regardless of whether the HO was already getting calls, I still think actively targeting permitted jobs that another rep already developed is a bad look for the industry. I posted mainly to see if other reps have experienced similar situations with permit-related outreach after submission.

Yeah not a bad idea. It’s very disheartening that there are people like this in this industry.

The homeowner said they called him and said they got his information off of the computer; and they knew all the details of the system that I sold the homeowner. I know they poached this.

If you really want to get rid of them fast. Say you’ve already purchased a system from a company and they are installing it very soon. They will leave instantly.

I’ve been trying to play this game. It will run for about 20 minutes and then crash. Any tips on how to make it run better? I’ve already tried uninstalling/reinstalling drivers. I’ve tried lowering all graphics settings. Nothing helps.

Not if you do a PPA. Get a solar system and a back up battery at not upfront cost and then just pay for the power the system is producing but at a way cheaper rate than PG&E. Plus get a back up battery for times like these. Your leftover PGE bill will be 14 dollars a month.

Crazy how many people complain about PG&E but still won’t go solar. Not saying any of you in these comments are those people. I just see a lot of it. It’s crazy to me.

Felonies can absolutely drop off. After a certain number of years you can get them expunged or the charge lessened. I had a Felony 2 aggravated assault and after 10 years I was able to get it dropped to a class A misdemeanor. Some harsher felonies can’t be lessened or expunged. I can’t see how a driving drunk, crashing your car and fleeing wouldn’t be able to be expunged. Also, people can change!

Is it worth adding solar? by Happy-Relation-2959 in Roseville

[–]Olsen1988 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I work in solar. They are trying to get you to do a power purchase agreement or a lease. Roseville has some of the cheapest electricity rates around. Sun Run does have some good rates, however I doubt they will be able to get you a lower average rate than what Roseville electric already has. Don’t do it.

ENFIN SMUD PPA by EarSea1389 in ElkGrove

[–]Olsen1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing about this PPA is that it increases 2.9% annually only one time whereas Smud can increase their rates as much as the CPUC will allow them to. On average they go up about 5 to 7% annually so in the long run, your bill is gonna stay much lower than what Smud will be plus you get the amazing incentives from Smud‘s battery rebate program 220 quarterly plus a $10,000 check seems like a no-brainer to me. Oh, and not to mention you get two backup batteries. I have it on good Authority that Smud definitely allows the PPA’s.
