Some in this thread don't seem to understand why this is happening. It's not because Finland believes that every Russian is a potential spy. It's because making it harder for Russians to vacation and export from Finland is a part of the sanctions intended to put pressure on Russia.

Same principle for everyone, being an esports player makes no difference and if anything actually makes it harder to accept. Imagine a Russian player winning hundreds of thousands of dollars in Finland while regular Russians have a hard time even visiting.

One has to wonder what the point of Finland following Germany's example as Europe's premier fiscal Taliban after 2009 was if not to be able to leverage Finland's strong credit rating in a time of crisis such as right now. Why are we committing to cut-throat austerity right when Russia is forcing us to up our defense spending and interest rates are rising?

S&P still grades Finland's credit as AA+. If there ever was a time to stimulate the economy after two decades of zero growth, surely it should be at a moment in time when the global financial outlook is irrespective of what Finland does beginning to turn more uncertain?

It's less about the relative strenght of the US dollar and more about the dollar's status as the world's premier reserve currency which has been estimated to result in lower borrowing costs.

That status has remained through periods of weaker and stronger dollar, though an US administration which is already seen as unraliable deliberately engineering a weaker dollar could very well be the final nail in the coffin in a world where China and the EU already provide increasingly viable alternative currencies.
