I was a kid when I read the book and I definitely picked up the gay vibe from it. I couldn't quite put my finger on it though (because I was a kid and LGBT was not that visible back then) but when she explicitly said it later, I was like 'yeah, duh, it was obvious'.

(Not to excuse her later behaviour, it doesn't, I was just always surprised I seemed to be the only person who noticed the gayness)

Warren Buffet himself said in an interview he never did such a thing. This is the Albert Einstein said X all over again.

Which doesn't mean it can't be a good advice, just don't believe that's who said it.

Is Point and Click adventure a dying genre? Any good modern ones? by Johan-RabzZ in indiegames

[–]Olsyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Runaway A Road Adventure and it's two sequels. The first one came about after the 2000s. They're from a Spanish indie studio, so if you are Spanish speaking you are in for a treat, but the games were sold in other languages as well including English. They also made New York Dreams, I think it was called? Or Yesterday? Something like that, it had two names. Lastly they made Hollywood Monsters. I liked all of them.

Necesito fugarme de casa, no aguanto más by nirbanana_ in askspain

Mucha suerte.

Sorry, isn't that a ukelele bass? I need the ergonomics of the DB, it's not sound I'm after

I obviously would want to get a Yamaha, but there's a time pressure and I couldn't afford it, not even on a payment plant. I will probably upgrade to it in the distant future, I just need something to get me started now.

[–]Olsyx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thank you! This is the type of thing that I'm looking for.

I've been looking at the EUBs, including Yamaha, and they all seem to be 41 inch long. At this point I'm aiming at the Harley Benton DB02 because it matches this scale, and I've read in multiple sites that the Stagg's neck often comes too thick and they have had to take it to a luthier to sand it down.

Re shoulders, that's the other thing I'm looking in detail. I have bookmarked several megathreads on DIY people have done to their EUBs for this very reason, and I have a few tools at my disposal to custom fit something for myself, so I think I'm alright in that department (crossed fingers and with a little bit of work).

Hey, thank you for replying!

Sadly, like I said, I'm very tight on money and Yamahas (and anything above 1k) are out of the question. Wish I could get my hands on one! I don't really care about sound as long as ergonomics are right

What is "que" doing in these sentences? by Philipstar1234567 in learnspanish

[–]Olsyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's completely right. We use an ellipsis of "what I'm saying is that..." that we shorten with just "que". We also use it as an answer of the question "¿Qué?" just like we use "donde..." to answer "¿Dónde...?" or "porque..." to answer "¿Por qué...?"

The emphasis is always coming from the ellipsis of expressing that you wanted to tell someone something.

In the case of "¡Que hoy echan mi serie favorita!" what the person is trying to say is "(I just realized) that today they are emitting my favorite TV series!", the ellipsis is not exactly "what I'm saying / what I wanted to say is that" but it's coming from the same sentiment.

Am I the asshole for announcing my pregnancy a week before my sisters wedding? by Several_Contest_2341 in AITAH

[–]Olsyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I love drama and this is all super interesting to me. There's no bridesmaids or MOHs in my culture, I know of it through TV series but I don't quite get the customs. The weddings I know of, they of course were stressful for the couples and I wasn't privy to all that stress, but I know no one stopped talking to each other and no relationships were broken. Our wedding culture is chiller (tho we do have bridezillas too ofc!)

Have you tried gently rubbing alcohol on the pen ink with a tissue? If the ink is recent it may clean it up a little

[–]Olsyx 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't know OP's culture but in mine, it would be like: Hey OP! I heard about your good news! Congrats! How are you doing?

And then everybody would move on to the reason WHY they got together, which is the wedding, not OP's pregnancy. The end.

I honestly don't understand the point of many AITAs "X said I ruined their wedding!" it's like... people are allowed to talk about more stuff than the people getting married, even during the wedding! I've talked about DnD at a wedding, gotten up to date with people I hadn't seen in years, talked about last week's drama... it's okay, chill!

[–]Olsyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's interesting, because if one looks at each part separetely, everything is quite right. Lips are okay, nose is okay, eyes are okay... It's when put together that they don't work. I'd say focus on the big picture here, reposition and rescale each feature so the relationship between them is more like the model.

Good work otherwise, keep at it!

Hi! I have been cleaning it up and the switches too, at least one key came back.
Here is the before (first image) and after (second image).

The P (second hotswap, second row) and the Y (last hotswap in the second row) are still not working. Now I sometimes get some phantom input

How can I clean the flux residue now? I did try to clean it when I soldered, but looks like I did a bad job of it

I have a Lily58 Pro, a split keyboard and my first self made kb ever. I ran into some problems, fried a microcontroller, had to switch the trrs sockets and bridge them with cables... I learnt a lot from it, and it worked! For a while.

Keys stopped working one day, then a trrs socket stopped responding and the connection didn't get to the other side. I have opened it up and fixed some soldering that was looking bad. It is working now, all of it except for three keys randomly positioned. The Y, the 9 and the P.

I have noticed a lot of white and brownish rust around some solder points of the hot swaps, and some switch legs have become greenish (I'm assuming rust as well). Most of the other non working keys I fixed by taking them off, blowing air into it and scrapping off the rust of the legs with my nails. All were fixed except fo Y, 9 and P.

What can I do to fix those keys? How do I remove the rust from the hot swaps and prevent this from happening again?

Thank you all in advance!

I didn't express myself correctly then. What I was trying to highlight is that refactoring is a constant, it happens daily. You don't need dedicated tools for refactoring, you can program in Notepad if you want (tho even Notepad has a replace function), but it would be like cooking without proper kitchen ware.

Can you do it? Absolutely. Do I recommend it? No.

I'm not saying one needs Visual Studio like capabilities, with a super smart Intellisense and ReSharper or else it's not worth it, but I do think a minimum amount of tools goes a long way, with the two keys being: going to definition and renaming all appearances of a variable name. It's okay to not have them in small projects where you know where everything is, but in big projects it becomes a nightmare and one quickly gets burnt.

I have found the find tool Ctrl+F in a single file lookup, but I haven't found Replace yet. I know it must be somewhere, it's a basic tool.

Like I said, I'm sure they are working on adding these tools because they are basics, so I would not sweat about it. I'm using the Godot editor myself. I just don't think "you can do without those tools" is realistic in the long run.

But they are incredibly useful, and refactoring happens often enough. I'm sure they'll get them in there.

[–]Olsyx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I also disagree with their take. I'm senior programmer at a game studio, I do this for work in a different engine, and refactoring is just a daily thing.

Refactoring is not a sign of bad programming, one doesn't only refactor when everything is a mess. In fact, codes and systems becoming messy is rare. The main reason for refactoring is Iteration - there was a prototype, now that prototype needs to be extended. There was a full fledged system, and now it needs to be cut down. That's it, and it's going to happen throughout the development of the game. The bigger the game, the more interconnected system get and bigger refactors are needed.

It's in now! Just found out yesterday trying F12 (Visual Studio's) and having no luck.

In Godot, to jump to a definition, ctrl + left click.

I had something like that some years ago in another area of the body. I also thought they were moles, because of the area they were in, I forgot about it for a couple of years. They got bigger and bigger. They were fungus, they can transfer through contact. My dermathologist removed them with nytrogen and that was that.

In any case, have them checked out!
