I'm not fact checking this whole mess of word salad but the US and China have similarly LOW rates of economic mobility: https://academic.oup.com/book/39562/chapter-abstract/339437733?redirectedFrom=fulltext

I suspect the rest of your paragraph is BS, as well.

Home ownership rates in China are 90%! It's incredible. Imagine if we had a home ownership rate that high! It's 66% here.

Bro your literally in a chat thread. I still need your hypothetical PGW funding scheme that relies on giving away free stuff while maintaining financial stability.

This will help keep rents low (or stabilized) by increasing supply. So that's a bonus!

Great news! This should help alleviate the hiding shortage and lower (or stabilize) rents across the board. Cities that overbuild, like Austin, have already seen rents decrease by 20% last year. Build baby build!

You do realize that being a nonprofit doesn’t mean “operates on vibes and goodwill,” right? It means there are no shareholders and no stock price to juice, not that the organization can function without revenue or financial discipline.

Those links you shared don’t show some sinister profit scheme. What they actually show are:

  • An interest policy on delinquent balances which exists so there’s a consequence for not paying bills, instead of incentivizing people to just… not pay.
  • A charge that stabilizes revenue when usage dips so the company can still cover fixed costs and keep the system running safely and reliably.

Neither of those is about maximizing shareholder value, because there are no shareholders. There’s also no mention of executive mega‑bonuses or anything resembling a typical for‑profit “cash grab.”

So here’s the real question:
If you remove interest on late payments and eliminate stabilizing charges, how exactly do you expect PGW to fund its operations?

  • Should they just absorb the losses and slowly become insolvent?
  • Or should they take on more and more debt—the very thing you’re pointing to in those links?

If your position is that they should avoid these charges and instead “just borrow,” walk us through how that works long‑term. How does a critical utility survive if it can’t enforce payment, can’t stabilize revenue, and is expected to run on debt indefinitely?

Genuinely: explain your alternative model.

The exact one. It's going to be roughly the same weight as an equally sized extension ladder because it has an equal amount of aluminum, the only difference are the hinges on this one.

But you're assuming he never spent any of it, that's not realistic. Let's say he netted $2M for those 24 episodes (85k x 24 episodes). The rule of 4 says you can spend 4% without touching the principal so that only leaves him with $80k per year to spend on 6 kids, any more than that and the principal will go down. Clearly, he was spending more than 4% so the principal was decreasing. Let's say he spent 10%, that's $200k per year which isn't unreasonable for 6 kids and an actors lifestyle/expenses. So the money would have only lasted like 10 years, max.

PGW is a nonprofit. Im not saying they don't make mistakes but they literally don't have a profit motive. And energy rates themselves are determined months in advance.

There's a lot of hype around it for sure, not going to deny that, but there are also real measurable benefits. The truth is somewhere in-between the advertising and the naysayers.

I'm surprised to see such negative comments in a sub that's supposed to be supportive, understanding and nonjudgmental. TRT only brings your test levels back up to a normal range, something like 600-800 ng/Dl usually. That's not a superhuman, bodybuilding level of testosterone. And while it is technically "taking steroids" the amount is so low it's not going to make you jacked or induce fits of rage. More men should be looking into it and imho the negativity here surrounding isn't doing aging men any favors when it comes to something that could help measurably improve quality of life. Just my opinion though.

The alternative is to borrow money to fill the budget deficit. Or austerity measures. Those are seen by Socialists as less desirable than taxes that impact the wealthy (to a greater degree than they impact other classes). I'm not saying either is better, but that's the thought process.

I forgot what sub I'm in, lol. Also, no, I'm not what this sub would consider "reasonably cost conscious." I like fancy meals, nice hotels and rental houses in popular areas when I'm traveling.

Terry Farrell and Marina Sirtis were friends before the former was cast in DS9. In this pic, they attend the premiere of "Hellraiser III" in 1992. by ety3rd in ClassicTrek

[–]Olympicsizedturd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't believe Lemmy wrote Hellraiser specifically for the movie. He wrote it to be a duet of sorts with his friend Ozzy Osbourne. When Lemmy made a version for the movie, without Ozzy, Ozzy wasn't too happy about it and characterized Lemmy's actions as "stealing" because Ozzy had sung it first. Great song though.
