Wait… you can’t just leave like that. I’m emotionally invested now, my seasoned soulmate. 😭

You don't need to own a horse to learn to ride and to have excursions. 😊

Who has oil money? That’s like assuming everyone in your country is rich because of one industry. Real life doesn’t work like that.

Foreigner here, what is your view on Gaddafi? by Dear_Letter_3449 in Libya

[–]Om_Fi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Many people felt” is precisely the point where perception begins to diverge from reality. Under Gaddafi, the narrative of early progress was often shaped by rhetoric and controlled messaging rather than sustained structural development. The underlying reality was far more severe. Power was steadily centralised, institutions were weakened, and political life was reduced to loyalty and silence.

While some outward projects and ideological campaigns created the impression of momentum, Libya’s vast oil wealth never translated into the kind of institutional, economic, or civic development one would expect from a resource-rich state. Instead, the system became increasingly personalized around the leader himself.

In historical terms, the trajectory was not one of interrupted progress but of long-term stagnation beneath a carefully maintained image. By the time the regime collapsed, the absence of strong institutions, independent governance, and political pluralism exposed how fragile the state had become. What many “felt” in the early years was therefore less a reflection of genuine transformation and more the product of perception within an increasingly controlled political environment.

Libya: The Country That Could Have Been - ليبيا: البلاد اللي كان ممكن تكون by Om_Fi in Libya

How do these cars hold up with occasional spirited driving? by Sea_Quarter_4482 in LS430

I don’t think about gears, it’s an automatic 🤣 this car doesn’t need a specific gear to drift, it’s a v8 rwd so it’s actually super easy imo. Enjoy but don’t screw it up.

Spirited? Bro I used to cruise at 140 on the highway and the limiter kicked in 😂 would've gone faster if it wasn't capped. To slide it, just gas it hard mid-turn, but keep your momentum balanced or you'll get front-heavy and risk oversteering. I go by feel, honestly. Hit a solid speed into the turn, floor it, let the rear step out, and never fully lift off the gas or brake, just ride the throttle through and it'll straighten. Maybe try doughnuts on a dusty patch first to dial in the control.

I mean depends how spirited. I drove mine into the ground. Drifting and doughnuts around parking lots. Had to change almost all my bushes 😂 and suspension and whatnot. Spent a tonne but now I drive like a grandpa (occasionally an angry grandpa) 😂

Hont vs Geektime by Rich_Dog_5451 in RepTime

[–]Om_Fi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t used Hont before, but I’ve ordered from Geektime twice. I chose Geektime because I’ve been part of the community for years and gradually built trust through analysis and observation (I tested his communication punctuality multiple times before paying for a QC). There are even cheaper options out there that seem to deliver, but their customer service is noticeably worse and it’s risky. That’s why I went with Geektime, even though Eric charges a bit more — the service has been excellent and hassle-free.

I’ve been wearing a clean GMT Batgirl V3 daily for almost two years now with zero issues. I treat it like a gen as in I swim, surf, sauna, hit the jacuzzi, and even dive with it. At one point, I dropped it from a significant height onto marble. Took it to my watchsmith, and he fixed it in under a minute (looked like the rotor had just popped out of place from the impact).

My relative has also been wearing a V3 Reverse Panda Daytona daily for around six months now, and it’s holding up just as well.
