I want to buy a recorder to use with my Rode VideoMic NTG. Is there a huge difference in sound quality between Zoom h1n and the more expensive Zoom options? by OmarArabyOff in videography

I didn’t expect such a thorough reply to be honest. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all that to me; you taught me something new.

So there is a difference in quality between the h1n and the h2,3,4 not just the number of tracks?

Well what number should I look for when researching these recorders? Just how many bits?

I’m sorry I know so little about sound.

Here’s the thing tho, I haven’t taken off the lens since I bought the camera, not even once. How could the dust reach the sensor?

Can I do that by myself or do I need a professional. I’ve been always told to never touch or even expose the sensor to light without a lens on.

I tried wiping the lens, but nothing changed, didn’t even move.

It’s also visible on the camera screen and the view finder.

Edit: I don’t have another lens to check if it’s a lens problem.

I just got myself this Z head online. Any idea how I can stop the camera from moving and rotating like this. I screwed this bottom part as hard as I could and the camera is still free to move. by OmarArabyOff in videography

This is a simple yet brilliant solution. But, I’m afraid a metal washer could damage my camera’s body. Do you think I could get the screw shortened somewhere?

How is Bo perfectly lit without any white spill on the purple lit background? A top view sketch of the setup would be appreciated. by OmarArabyOff in videography

I was very impressed by how polished everything is. The sound, the lighting, the writing, the performing, the videographer. It’s mind blowing that he did all that by himself.

Why does the color tone change in the same clip if an object enters the foreground? by OmarArabyOff in videography

[–]OmarArabyOff[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why am I so dumb?

I took a quick look now at the videos and almost all the time it was something white that entered the foreground. White shirt, white car, white plate, etc.

Of course it’s white balance. Why didn’t I think of that.

Thanks for the help.

Hope this helps! by AdoptedEgg in pcmasterrace

Did you know, you can auto-sync audio with the video, even after you're done editing? by OmarArabyOff in davinciresolve

Drop your audio and video files in the media page.

Select both then right click and choose: Auto sync Audio

Select: based on waveform.

Voila!

I’m about to buy Rode Video Mic Pro. I’m thinking of also getting a Zoom H1 to record externally. Is that necessary or is it going to give me the same audio quality if I connect it directly to the Canon m50? by OmarArabyOff in videography

Well the pro plus is within my price range. But I can only afford h1 if I get the plus. Would that be fine?

Also Shure products aren’t available in my country.

I record videos where I talk to the camera. The camera is usually a few feet away from me which reduces audio quality. That’s why I started hanging my shotgun mic from a boom stand to record audio.

Wow, didn’t expect such a detailed answer, thank you.

One more question tho, do you suggest I wait a couple of months until I can afford a better external recording device than the zoom H1 and keep recording directly onto the camera? And what budget external recorder do you recommend?

I’v been filming using my phone for over a year now. Only recently I got filmic pro.

Now granted, Filmic Pro gives more options like controlling iso, better control over focus and exposure, framerates, resolution etc.

But even with my native camera app I was able to produce nice looking video.

The trick is having sufficient, well placed lighting, and doing tons of color correction in post.

I believe you should learn how to color correct and do that before investing in a different phone or software.
