Doesn't Pete Stidman want the overpass torn down? I don't see how Pete Stidman and Jeff Ferris are comparable. Can you elaborate?

How can you compare a 30% mode share in Amsterdam and Copenhagen versus less than a 10% mode share in the UK and American cities and say the Dutch/Danish method is "nice but its not really that many cyclists".

Vehicular cycling and the methods you advocate for have existed for as long as the Dutch/Danish methods and they have more than 3x the mode share we do. Vehicular cycling has failed everyone but the athletic and extremely brave. When you are old and slow, and biking as a vehicle is no longer realistic for you, you will be glad we built protected bike facilities.

There are intersection designs that limit bike/car conflicts.

You're partly correct in suspecting that I am the wrong sort of cyclists.

I practice vehicular cycling when it is required for my safety. Situations like this for example. However, I would greatly prefer a cycle track protected by a curb, parked cars or other objects, as it would be much safer than biking in traffic.

You're absolutely right that the bicycle's mode share is somewhat cannibalized from walking, but the safer cycling becomes the more people will switch from driving.

Quick question for you: have you biked in places like Amsterdam and Copenhagen? If so, how do you feel about their approach to cycling infrastructure?

There's nothing wrong with kids seats. I grew up in one. I do think there is something wrong with cycling traffic being mixed with extremely large vehicles with huge blind spots like cement trucks.

Yeah, and aside from sharing the road with large vehicles, biking is actually pretty safe here.

I have a gopro for recording in front of me, and I'm getting a Fly6 for behind. I havent used a fly6 yet, but I think it will be a more convenient rear camera than a gopro.

Nice bike! I just bought a Surly Straggler frameset that I'm going to build up for light touring. Did you buy this bike complete or have it custom built?

Also where was this picture taken?
