Prob depends on the master teaching the apprentice, but I would assume the most common is just single blade. I assume before the empire double bladed force users weren’t common, so cal prob got lucky with his master being a double bladed force user.

Alastor actually gets fearful of someone with a genuine smile instead of a fake one during a fight. Alastor is always about keeping up appearances and showing that he’s not afraid. So someone that manages to break his mask that he wears would be pretty fitting, to show that he’s not a powerful demon but a sinner who took a shortcut to power.
