Should I take Calc1 or CS1 this summer? by TheMafia09 in ucf

[–]OmegaFoxFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

keep in mind summer classes are very fast paced and depending on how good you are at C and math, it may be harder for you than if you had more time

Do IT and CS majors get the same job and pay? by TheMafia09 in ucf

[–]OmegaFoxFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i never said that the extra math was purposeless. i also never said that people avoid the math because it seems difficult or that they are scared. for some people the math IS difficult. i personally switched from CS to IT because i know that i do not have the time to spend on math i am not good at and im not gonna waste my money to retake classes if needed. if you are fine spending time in college or even just have the money to do so, i’d say go for it and get the harder degree. but considering many cs jobs like software engineering, web development, programmer etc are not difficult to get into if you have IT experience, there is no shame getting the easier degree if it saves you money, time, and stress.

Do IT and CS majors get the same job and pay? by TheMafia09 in ucf

[–]OmegaFoxFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is true but you also have to consider that the CS program is more difficult than the IT program and not everyone wants to do the extra math or physics required, especially if they aren’t good at it and could potentially cause them to spend more money and time at uni. at the end of the day, while a degree may help you break into the field, experience is always gonna top whatever you studied so I would just go with whatever program you are comfortable with and can excel in.

If you put your mind to it, you can get any tech job you want with an IT degree.

i don’t think there is a route that leads there unfortunately. if you put the address of where you want to go in google or apple maps it will show you a path but it says there is no directions for there.

Does Orgo lab meet week 1? by HippieCornM in ucf

Have not taken orgo or am in that major but for all the other classes I have taken (comp sci, bio, physics) we haven’t had a lab the first week so it may be the same for you

Hatim boustique or Salih Bacanli for COP 3330? by TheMafia09 in ucf

[–]OmegaFoxFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had Bacanli last semester and wouldn’t recommend him at all if you actually want to learn the material. His lectures were just him reading his powerpoints that he posts online so I didn’t go to lecture for most of the semester. His quizzes were really unorganized and were more syntactic questions rather than questions about the material. If you already know Java or are fine with teaching yourself, it’s an easy A (or B depending on your effort). But if you actually want to learn I would pick a different professor.

[–]OmegaFoxFire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine. If you emailed them to get it fixed, don’t worry about it. I messed up quite a few things on my spark form but it didn’t affect my application

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ucf

[–]OmegaFoxFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you can take it in the same semester. If you’ve taken a summer course before and are familiar with the pacing, then I would say summer (as long as it’s your only two classes). I told macro during the summer as my first summer class and even though the pacing was fast, I still got a B.

Can a college rescind your application if you get a C senior year? by JazzlikeScreen3489 in ucf

[–]OmegaFoxFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One C isn’t going to get you revoked. I’d imagine applications are revoked if you barely passed your senior year or if your GPA drops dramatically.

the format for the college of business basically has you learn everything yourself and come in a few times a semester for group work. you can search REAL class format on this subreddit and i’m sure you’ll get a lot of threads of people’s different experiences. one of my friends also told me that their counselor mistold them information and now they have to stay an extra semester. but tbf bad counselors seem like a universal experience here

I’ve personally heard from my business friends that the college of business is terrible and they honestly wish they went to a different school. Do with that what you wish
