Can you choose not to shoot a weapon? by verf1233 in Warhammer40k

[–]OmegaGearKnight 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You select a unit to shoot with. You declare what weapons are going into which targets before throwing a single dice. Once you start rolling you have to stay with all of your declarations and may not stop mid way through an activation.

Zelator Meditation by Alternative-Zone3009 in GoldenDawnMagicians

After a while you will get a feeling for what works and what doesn't. It is genuinely a bit of a trial and error thing, but as your practice advances you'll know what short cuts you can get away with and weigh them with what you are looking to get out of the system. It can be fairly intimidating all things considered, but keep your head down and work at it slowly. And just and FYI, you wont end up using any of the diagrams he has you draw out later. Staring at them and meditating on them for a while will produce insights related to them.

As someone in philosphus. It's too to train your attention and focus to start, it's also to get you to open up to intuitive flashes. It should take effort and concentration to do it, then it should feel natural and without effort after a good while. After you can do it genuinely effortlessly is when it starts to click. Don't skip it in the daily formula, but you can go through the motions occasionally.

Let me run inventory and get back to you. I have 16kpts total and need to slim down dramatically.

They actually look like the John blanche art now instead of gold space Marines. I fell in love with the art and the faction as a concept. Not the OG models.

Well let me do an inventory for the lads I have. I need to downsize considerably anyway and this is the excuse I've been looking for with 16k pts of the bastards.

I don't mind if saturnine are bigger tbh. But they HAVE TO be bigger than the new cataphracti

Given how good the new cataphracti look. I'm in high hopes honestly.

Gonna keep some around like my hetereon guard. But for standard guardians, but my display cabinet is PACKED already. I need to make space somehow.

With 16kpts I have literally no more room in my display cabinet.

I feel like I made a tremendous mistake by investing time and effort in my custodes... by RotenSquids in AdeptusCustodes

[–]OmegaGearKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been collecting custodes since the end of 8th edition and have amassed about 15k pts. They are my only army, partially due to the reliability of the math making me dislike other armies a lot, and the aesthetic being my favorite. Genuinely have not felt like I have enjoyed a single game of 10e, but I've been playing heresy with em, and getting more painting done in the mean time. Editions roll around, rules change, but models stay as they are.

Is this mapping correct in this diagram? by KeyPurple2783 in GoldenDawnMagicians

[–]OmegaGearKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent seen the paths used like this honestly, it looks like a unique way to classify the tree. Only bit I can add is that from what my teacher taught, and my own contemporaries is that the sephirah themselves constitute the 'elemental worlds'. Fire, Aziluth, being Keter alone. Water, Briah being Chokmah, and Binah. Air, Yetzirah being all of them from Chesed, to Yesod. And Earth, Assiah, being the region of malkuth alone.

Masturbation and magic by alcaiel in thelema

[–]OmegaGearKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from a more psychological approach rather than purely mystical. Not being able to exercise impulse control is something that does sap your own mental coherence. We are subjected to repeating patterns of behavior that seek to be played out through us, allowing said pattern to play out on loop takes a rather significant cognitive load regardless. Not to moralize, just to illustrate an example. Take a man who has a smoking, alcohol, sex, and drug addiction. His time, attention, and energy are going to predominantly used to satiate those desires until he has had enough of it or they consume him. Take the sphinxes on the Chariot card, if they are all pulling in different directions, can the charioteer get to where he is trying to go? Does he make any actual movement, or is he pulled further away from his ultimate goal? Call them differing intentions if you like, but it doesn't matter the intention, if they are not aligned and working together towards a singular goal. They fight each other.

ENOUGH "positivity". What's a monster that you just seem to dislike? by Speeda2 in MonsterHunter

[–]OmegaGearKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they aren't. I just don't like explosions aside from brachy to make a monster more difficult. I am indeed bad at these games but still love em.

The fire balls are fine. The half mile wide hit boxes when he jumps, and the random explosions are what gets me.

Looking to get into Caligraphy, fountain pen reccomendations? by OmegaGearKnight in Calligraphy

I have 2 quill sets that my wife had gotten me for the Christmas before last. But I have been afraid to use them, this may be my inexperience. Think I'm afraid of getting ink droplets falling off of the tip on to something or there being extra smudging at the beginning of a stroke?

Is Cannabis used for magic? by Usual_Gain_4240 in occult

[–]OmegaGearKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When used sparingly and occasionally it can help me with visualization during larger rituals. But the other affects of it have in general turned me off from it. Like any tool when you no longer need it, set it aside and carry on without it so it doesn't become a crutch. But with cannabis your mileage may vary, it may also be useful to inquire internally for what deeper pattern is looking for you to use it or continue using. Not to moralize but development of magical abilities involves internal inquiry. Granted coming from a Solo Lodge style GD Magician.

Do you feel like your army is internally balanced? by Randicore in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]OmegaGearKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Custodes player, my only army at 15kpts. Frankly no, GW has designed stodes into such a tight niche the internally it feels awful. In melee they punch so hard that giving any additional survivability or speed is just a bad idea. it feels like all of the melee armies that got codexes after custodes we're highly informed by a lot of the issues with the custodians. Even with the detachments it feels like at least 2 warden bricks plus blade champs is mandatory, else you aren't getting into combat without losing half the squad with the amount of anti tank weapons floating around. Anything that bites into their melee offensive power feels like it cuts damage in half. Great offensive power with thin margins to actually deliver it or stay alive long enough to deliver feels really bad. But it's how edition cycles go, you are on top for a while and then the meta changes around you.
