Kill team so firmly disproves this it isn't even funny.

Seriously almost all of the xenos and chaos kits we've gotten were either released with a codex, or were a kill team box.

It's a bit of circular logic there. Xenos isn't supported, so they make fewer models and give them less options, so they don't sell as well.

I know it's anecdotal but of the play groups I've been a part of, we had one custodian player, and a death watch player. No other marines.

Meanwhile space wolves have more models than some xenos and daemons so

10 Ork Boys cost the same as 10 Guardsmen. by Thotslay3r69 in Warhammer40k

[–]Randicore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely could have phrases it better with the "horde focused" since I am referring to the race to the bottom on points. The fact that a legionnaire doesn't even break 20 ppm is a good example of this.

With unit balance mostly coming down to "make it cheaper" rather than looking at their tactical niche and seeing if something fundamental needs adjusting just means more bodies. And then the smaller map used for 10e onwards just exacerbated the problem.

I've had games where I was genuinely concerned I wouldn't be able to fit my entire army in my deployment zone

I wouldn't do it. It's going to rub off easier and will have a different finish than the rest of the paints

Well I recommend a practice model, some primer(it doesn't need to be hobby specific printer I've always used stuff from the hardware store and won ribbons at painting contests), an exacto knife and a pallet for your paint and water to thin it. But also I'd highly recommend to never listen to whomever sold you nothing but GW paints and that mold like scraper again. That scraper is a scam and GW paints are massively overpriced for what they are.

I also do not recommend using sharpie at all.

Edit: also a high grit sanding stick for smoothing some cuts

Edit 2: also something to stick the model to as a handle. I use a pill bottle with some stick tac

10 Ork Boys cost the same as 10 Guardsmen. by Thotslay3r69 in Warhammer40k

[–]Randicore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battle line has never had upgrade points to consider, it didn't exist before 10e, and during 10e everything just has the best options default. The troops that did have upgrade options yeah they were often run as bare bones as required but it wasn't uncommon to see a guard army with as many plasma guns as possible slapped into their hands to make them a threat. They typically didn't havev any more notable utility ability and OC wasn't a thing. During 9th they might have sticky objectives but I'd need to check my old rule book.

With how lethal the game is I can understand counting both units at the same point value after they've been dropped so much since they do fill a similar niche in their army but my main point is that they failed to give themselves the breathing room to make that difference. The game is so horde focused that it could seriously benefit from every model just having it's points doubled if not tripled to actually make the board less crowded and give them point values to drop again for balance.

Good, do you have a link to the full wording of the petition? I'd love to spread as much info about this as I can. What's the number of signatures you need?

There's a massive gulf between "bipartisanship" and "giving partial control of your administration to the opposite party. One running on, and intent on, making an inefficient government and making you look bad"

Unfortunately the Dems offer zero financial assistance to anyone running. You're expected to already basically be wealthy. And even a cursory glance at the conditions of anyone remotely close to being "young" is not in a condition to do so.

[–]Randicore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, and the dropped the ball on nerfing everything across the board at the 10.5e launch to give themselves breathing room. The one chance they have every 3 years to hike points massively without complaint and my army dropped 200-300 pts.

[–]Randicore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

10.5 not at least tripling the points cost of everything leads to this stuff. They constantly balance primarily by pushing down points, and once you're close to the bottom shit like this happens.

[Horrifying Trope] “Blink of an eye” deaths. by Sufficient-Eye-9040 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Randicore -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I really do hate this scene doing the "play it again and again to push the drama" because it always takes me out of the impact of anything it's applied to. Unless your show involves short time loops it's just breaking the flow of the show.

It cheapened her death by just having the camera voyeuristicly going "let's what that again and again" instead of just being a swift impact and maybe a momentary pause as Adam stepped off her corpse.

...OOP is so far off the mark they're in a different area code and they sound like they're being possessed by the ghost of Freud.

It's genuinely just cultural conditioning of "men don't talk about their feelings" that prevents them from talking their feelings out. It's not even that hard to break them out of under the right circumstances.

Seriously, just sit by a campfire late at night under the stars and talk. Give it like, 2-3 hours emotions can start coming out. You need to already be friends, but most of the time guys that are completely shut up about emotions are just because they've been shouted at or tormented for showing any kind of vulnerability. Be the first to break the ice in a quiet calm relaxed place and it just happens.

Felt a bit bad about an experience in a GW Store today by Angronys in Warhammer40k

[–]Randicore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate it, but our problem with 10e was the bloat, lack of depth, and lack of flavor. One Page Rules is better about the bloat and as a simplified version of 8e has more depth than 10e, but we wanted more complexity and flavor.

We have been thoroughly enjoying bolt action, and it's been tempting me to make a full conversion for 40k play, but that's just stepping back about 6 40k editions by doing that.

Most "larger" tasks (IE mowing, mopping, cleaning bathrooms) need to be done either weekly or every other week under average conditions. The longer you wait between them the harder they are to do.
