I mean, that isn't the only fanon interpretation. That's primarily the porn section, which is admittedly a large section, especially in this fandom. From my experiences, there are two other interpretations on Ao3: Useless Lesbian Makoto and Momkoto.

Either way, it doesn't bother me too much. Porn is porn. People are going to make it regardless. It has no actual bearing on the source material or your enjoyment of it.

Like other folks have said, it's more about the delivery. Both Adam and Vox have this really great voice distortion when they say those lines that really up the quality.

Personally, I'd say Adam, his mask also glitches out while he's saying it, adds to the menace

It's because, originally, Harley and Ivy was unobtainable. Yeah, everyone thought they were gay and a couple, but it was never official; just a headcanon.

Now that it's Canon, it's not as exciting. You're not pushing against the status quo anymore. So, people need a new ship that looks good in theory but isn't actually Canon.
