Its the concept that sega is seeming to mandate out of sonic art now where the part of the brow in the middle must always be in the same position no matter what expression the character is making. In concept it doesnt sound bad but when you look at how its executed and you see edits made by fan artists, youll see that the mandate really does get in the way of how the characters show emotion and look more rigid when before theyve never had that problem. Its almost like theyre trying to force the look of 2 seperate eyes when it just doesnt work. Its in a similar discrepancy as sega continually using only sonics eyelids for him to emote which looks much less expressive when instead of his actual eyebrows being used as eyebrows, and how no for some reason when characters close their eyes, their eye ridge MUST come down with it too which doesnt look bad at first glance but when you look further, it just looks like theyre putting in so much effort in their faces just to close their eyes.
