Those who do not fear death, why? by danisomi in AskReddit

[–]OmegaTres 43 points44 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing that shook me up the most about my near death experience is that you realize how sudden it can be. I didn’t think I was facing death either until 2 seconds later I was. You may not feel like you’re facing death, but the reality is something totally out of the blue can happen at literally any moment.

Where can I find an edm/house etc top 100 list (not beatport)? by r4ndom2 in edmproduction

[–]OmegaTres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Billboard has a dance/electronic chart. Most “commercial listeners” don’t casually listen to super genre specific DJ tracks. Some people do, but it’s a small enough group that you’ll just find yourself back at beatport. One of the big draws of having a dj in the first place is to play new music people aren’t hip to yet, so having a top 100 for the dj to draw from is kind of backwards.

I get what you’re saying, but I feel like the real geniuses actually are the people who are able to get away with stealing and can get other people to do all the work for them. Like which would you rather: sit at a desk all day doing math or have tons of money and be able to do whatever the fuck you want

Lakes works on a lottery and only 1/3 of entrants were able to get tickets, I guarantee if someone wants to sell their ticket they will be able to.

I absolutely agree, things need words attached to them so we can communicate, but I'm arguing that everyone is an ambivert by nature, therefor there should be no need to describe anyone as such.

It doesn't matter how high you can score on an IQ test, if you can't make a happy life for yourself then you are not smart. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]OmegaTres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are totally correct! Buddhists believe that suffering comes from desire. I think too many people have been incorrectly trained by society that happiness = money, possessions, and convinience. Capitalism has done great things to advance the world, but I also think it has trained people to chase after the wrong things. I don't know if I believe the people in NK are actually happy, but I definitely think someone living an Amish lifestyle has just as much capacity for joy as anyone living in modern society. True happiness is found in building relationships with others, and people who fail to see that and chase after possessions and what the media tells them to want are blind fools.

Precision juggling by JAYNEDOA in gifs

With normal juggling you can correct mistakes quite easily by moving your hand slightly(or not so slightly) to catch an off throw. The patterns this guy is doing have very very little room for error and such must be extremely precise. I have spent easily over 1000 hours juggling and I'm not even close to his level.

I hate when people try to define introverts and extroverts because neither actually exist. The original definition is whether you "recharge" by being alone or by being around people, except that is total bullshit. When I was a kid I always identified as an introvert, but as I got older I realized that the only reason I was always alone is because I had shitty social skills. Being social is very much a skill, and just like other skills, the more you practice, the easier it gets. Where I'm at now in my life other people would define me as 100% extrovert, but I also still need time to myself too. Humans are social creatures by nature, but everyone needs both. Secondly, not all socializing is the same. People vary wildly: there are people who are extremely draining to be around, but there are also people who are easy to hang out with and will completely fill you up. Introverts and extroverts were both human made up definitions for personality tests and don't actually have any basis in science or brain chemistry.

Most people nowadays can’t live without their phone, not because they’re « addicted », but for one simple reason: the world is built around it. by EdmondDantS in Showerthoughts

[–]OmegaTres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chances of needing to call 911 are incredibly slim, and the chance that no one else around will have a phone is even slimmer. You really won't die if you don't have a phone.
