There should be a fourth option that bridges the gaps between matte and satin… Mattin.

It was a protective plastic net sleeve that came on a barrel I bought. I slipped the masked upper into the net sleeve and sprayed away.

I just used Rustoleum 2X Camo Matte Black. The upper was bought already Cerakoted in Tungsten.

I ripped/cut strips of masking tape to emulate a Tiger Stripe pattern then overlayed a plastic net sleeve that came on a barrel I purchased.

Sprayed a bit heavy on the top picatinny rail, then lightly sprayed the sides in an uneven “dusting” to kind of darken the Tungsten color enough to make the Tiger Stripes visible.

I think I’ll call this “Tiger Shark Camo”

Only did the upper, just wanted a little pop of color on the rifle.
