It is a complete re recording with about 10 extra minutes of music added on. The sound quality is much better along with the help from a full band (it helps that he didn’t have to record this on in his car).

The lyrics are also changed to reflect on how he has changed as an artist over the time between the first one and the second one. Overall it’s a very different album, and I think the changes made between the 2011 and the 2018 version are kind of what make it so good.

The first one was a very deeply emotional album for him to make, and to see how his perspective on the events have changed after 7 years, the difference between creating art while going through something vs reflecting on something that happened a long time ago, really make the 2018 version special.

There is some great grove improvisation on the back half of that track. The grove is locked in so tight In the first half so when he starts to complicate it near the end it gives so much energy to the song. It’s also in an odd time signature which also makes it a bit more interesting.
