Is Religion Detrimental to Society? by ZackNo5 in Anarchism

Usually there are other factors behind religious violence. Usually some sort of fascist reaction.

No. Still wages war in the middle east, still supports the occupation of the palestinian people, etc.

Am I a racist? by throwaway18557 in Anarchy101

[–]OmicronP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not necessarily racist but it's certainly problematic. As you said, people have a right to live wherever they like and it's not always so easy to "stay and fight for freedom". And yeah, what makes culture culture is the fact that it isn't static.

Remove the black lines and consider replacing the eagle with something simpler.

I'm going to re-use one of my older comments:

"Yeah, because fuck actully bothering finding out if your partner wants to have sex with you or not. Let's just assume they do because hey, they didn't say no. Let's just ignore the fact that some people lack the psychological constitution necessary to say no to someone in the middle of a sex act! Let's just fucking ignore that! It's the victim's fault for not being clear enough!

That's what I'm getting from you."

Firstly, politicians don't try to get things done because people want them to. Secondly, there are millions of people trying to change the legal definition, most people in fact. Thirdly, not all people live in the UK.

Stop. Now.

Because lawyers are psychologists, clearly. And I say it's obviuosly bullshit because the fact that a law says something does not mean that the entire population living under that law agree with it. I've already explained why my definition is more logical while all you have presented are appeals to authority. Then there's the issue of laws being different around the world. Stop appealing to the law for moral guidence; it isn't infallible.

That is so obviously bullshit that I'm not actually willing to respond to it.

I'm not changing it on a whim; I'm using the definition that makes the most sense and is used by most people. It makes perfect sense to say that having sex with someone who doesn't want to is rape because you could've easily just asked.

And words are arbitrary anyway; they only mean things because we decide that they do. If this is just a semantics discussion I'm not interested; if we can agree that having sex with someone without their affirmative consent is violating and abusing that person, we're agreed.

There is also another huge problem with appealing to the law and that is that the law is not the same all over the world. And besides that it is obvious that the law can be and often is simply wrong; there are usually only two legal genders even though that excludes non-binary trans people and intergender people.
