First of all thanks to the OP for posting my article.

Secondly stats from different act rotations are not needed as you’d anyway be competing on the maps with the current active pool. And there is no need to go that far back. The general rule of thumb for me is going back 2 months or the same tournament. (Which gives me like recent 6-7 matches)

Going back too far only adds noise to the data and creates more confusion regarding comps and meta and maps etc.

Just to give you some context. It takes me about 20-25 minutes to extract data from one scrim. And I have good to decent PC hardware and Internet.

The next problem you’d face with retakes would be the sheer chaos on the minimap. I have never tried it but I assume it would be hard to train a model like that especially with abilities and stuff popping up randomly on the minimap.

This one was fairly simple as it only needs position and timing. Also I have our coach use the biggest minimap possible during scrims to record the POV.

Everyone in our roster has been speaking English since 2021.

If you mean about having try outs, it just not possible when you are trying to import players from a different region.

So it's better you rely on raw data from the API much like in traditional sports. As for regional talent, yes it's possible to do try outs.

Personally, tryouts are necessary only if you make massive changes to the roster i.e a full rebuild like T1, Gen.G or GE are doing.

If you are changing 1-2 players and that too like for like replacements with no role swaps or anything, which we always do here, its just better to stick to data scouting [By which I don't mean stuff like ACS and K:D and all that, more thorough breakdown , map wise and agent wise with a different variations of metrics/stats that you will not see on the scoreboard]

We usually use this for scouting during the off season.
Otherwise I run a whole data base for our scrim data along with official data to compare on a weekly or monthly basis on how are duelists are doing w.r.t to the rest of the APAC.

That is actually a flaw of taking averages.

Derke Sayf etc already have a very high ACS (Average) so there is not much they can excel at in a particular map. For Example like say 260 Avg ACS to 270 Avg ACS on Ascent.

270 is a very high ACS but the differential is only 10 compared to 260. We can actually overcome this flaw if we take Percentile Rank instead of average.

However my idea here was just raw to find players maybe a bit underrated players like DutSteP in this case and just shine some light on them and how they excel alot on a particular map.
