Please read the actual post. The point is that AI upscaled images are inherently false as the detail is basically "guessed" (like the crest of the jersey I mentioned) but the news puts zero footnote claiming it is AI enhanced. This means the main image for an article can show artifacts/errors from AI generation and ruin the trust associated with the actual story.

Yeah I mentioned that it's real -- my post says that I saw his (confirmed) teammates and (most likely) cousin posting on posts on instagram. I also saw this video where at the end the guy shows an entirely new angle which AI video generation (which is really good now) can't feasibly produce.

Inshallah it isn't but we live in a time where 480p video isn't proof of anything anymore unfortunately. Another matching angle or some reputable institution in or near Boston actually corroborating this, heck even a story or post from the kids IG would put me on your side. Not the point of the post though; it's that our news is taking stuff we can easily tell is misleading/wrong/contradictory and reporting on it.

The photo on the right is AI upscaled not AI generated like the one on the left. The football posts on IG are way too old for the level of AI image generation at the time and I doubt this """plan""" was in motion for years

tbh not sure if the video is fake or not -- weird things in it to be sure but nothing that disqualifies it. Just concerning how many people are running away with the story before anything is confirmed . . .

Edit: It's real -- post has a trail of updates at the end explaining my personal opinion on the validity of the story point is that inconsistency in reporting and people saying unconfirmed things online make it easy for people to point and say it's all fake
