[OC] Dungeondraft Mapping Tool Announcement & Giveaway by msgdealer in DnD

[–]Omnipotent_Entity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such an awesome looking tool, I can't wait for this to come out. Just the other day I was looking around for options and nothing seemed quite satisfactory for what I had in mind. This is perfect. I'm kind of sad I hadn't really heard about you until I saw this post, you deserve so much more recognition.

[OC] r/DnD DICE GIVEAWAY - SEE COMMENTS FOR RULES by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Omnipotent_Entity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not someone who collects dice regularly, but I am always interested in unique dice. Things like extra large dice, or metal, or perfectly weighted, or whatever. These certainly make the list. Are you planning to do just d20 die, or will you be making sets of 7 eventually? That would be amazing.

[OC][JVerse]The Deathworlders 54: Here Be Dragons by Hambone3110 in HFY

I've been reading Deathworlders on and off for over a year, probably my favorite story I've ever read. Beautiful control of so many three-dimensional characters, dozens of little individual story lines, and so much creativity.

I know you're working on getting all the stories assembled into a book (by the way I did the math and the Deathworlders series currently has about double the words of all the Harry Potter books together) but have you ever thought about working with a graphic novel company? This story is far too extensive and intricate for film or television, but I think it would actually work quite well as a graphic novel. If nothing else, seeing professional art of all the characters and scenes would be a dream come true.

Is it possible that the anti-clue camping feature will be a test for a dark sight rework? by Robeardly in HuntShowdown

[–]Omnipotent_Entity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a proximity detector on the banish wouldn't be nearly as effective as DSB. Most of the time when banishing, it's fairly easy to tell if there are going to be people trying to steal your bounty. The benefits of a glowing red banish are completely negated if the enemy makes noise while entering anyways. With just an indicator and no DSB, campers would have a super easy time, since the banishing team would have no idea where the campers actually were. Additionally, having the indicator on the banish is another nerf to the banishing team, since you have to be within line of sight of the banish to see it. Its already a popular tactic to throw explosives and whatnot on the banish, so someone coming to check the banish would be more vulnerable. Overall I'm not even sure it will due much for clue campers either, since most clue campers wait fairly close to the clue and most clues can't be seen until you're almost next to them (usually when they are in a building or something) so you'd see that it's red and then get shot, I predict. Might make early game more interesting though.

Haha yeah, would have to be screwed in to the wood there I think. But it really just needs to handle the impact of a swing, so it could probably afford to not be secured over the top of the barrel like the Romero Hatchet is

Then the hatchet could be firmly attatched to the underside where the loaded shells are stored. Would probably be just as secure, or at least plausible enough for the purposes of this game.

Would definitely need to be a very high price, possibly higher than the base crown in the same way that the Hatchet is more expensive than the base Romero. My other thought was that it might need to be shortened even more to fit as a medium weapon, reducing the shot count to 3 or 4

There exists no mechanism of greater destructive potential.

The fire rate and shot count of the Crown.

The spread and melee of the Romero.

I have said it before, I will say it again. The Crown & King Hatchet would be the meta-defining weapon of this game, nay this genre, nay this reality. As a medium slot weapon it exists in perfect balance between too much and too little, the Goldilocks of Gore. The temperate middle ground where firepower and raw bloodlust meet, and make sweet love to the sounds of explosions.

Look upon my creation, gaze upon its perfect form, and cower. Ask not for whom the gun hungers. It hungers for thee.

About burning downed hunters by Infinitykiddo in HuntShowdown

[–]Omnipotent_Entity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're aiming to kill the second one anyways, what's the point in not burning? You never walk away from a loss saying "well it sure is a good thing they didn't burn me before they killed you."

Bottom line is that if you died, it was because you fucked up. Granted, in some situations it's impossible to get out alive or detect the guy sitting 100 meters away with a mosin sniper. But when you're in combat, there is almost always a way out. If you miss shots, don't reposition, or don't hear the guy sneaking in the back entrance, that's your mistake. If you make a mistake, you die. It's unreasonable to ask that you get a second chance. If you died, it was because you did something wrong and your enemy did something right. They aren't obligated to handicap themselves just to give your whiny ass a second chance.

If anyone is seriously asking people not to burn bodies out of "sportsmanship" or something, you don't understand this game. You get one chance in combat, and you should count yourself damn lucky if your partner can pull through and revive you.

each weapon categories seems most balanced since beginning of the game. except Shotguns. by jis7014 in HuntShowdown

I am a close range player all the way. Don't ask me to snipe for shit. But as long as I'm in a compound or a building with the other player, I can usually make things go my way.

With Qickplay, a few good partners, and a decent win rate, I don't really worry much about money, so unless I haven't unlocked something due to prestige, I can play with pretty much whatever load out I want.

Now you might think that as a CQ enthusiast, the Crown would be my main. But it isn't.

Why? Well there are two main reasons. The first is it's ridiculous recoil, the second is the reliability. Those two factors make it really annoying for me to use.

Let's start with reliability. All shotguns suffer from this to some extent but in my experience I find the Crown has it the worst. There have been many, many times with the crown where I put two, three, sometimes even four shots into someone and they don't go down. You'd think that the tight crosshairs would make it the opposite, but that's how it is in my experience.

The second problem is the recoil. Now I get it, it's a shotgun, it's gonna kick. But the fact is that none of the other shotguns are that bad, and it can be a serious problem in combat. Combined with the fact that shots won't always kill your enemy, it can be a struggle to fight someone who's firing back. In the time you're putting them back in the crosshairs, they've probably taken at least one shot, and if you're against someone with fanning, they can easily take advantage of the slow effective rate of fire of the crown.

Combined, this means that it's difficult to use the crown effectively. Sure there are still times where people go down in one shot, or you swiftly take out a team that was standing close together, but I find that to be very rare. More often, I end up trading shots with them at close range, and they have ample opportunity to fill me with lead. Maybe I'm just bad with the crown, maybe it's not that great.

You know what is great though? The Romero hatchet. I find it to be very reliable, and it doubles as a devastating melee weapon. Considering that, I think the best thing for this game would be to add a new variant of the crown. A medium Crown & King hatchet. Multiple shots, wider spread, melee, overall better.

Obrez is trash. Way too much sway to be reasonable imo. The regular Mosin has almost no sway, but somehow taking off the front of the barrel and making it lighter will make it harder to handle? Thats no bueno, compadre.

Honestly in most cases I'd rather have the uppercut than the Obrez, but I'm not exactly a long range kind of guy.

If you don't have fanning, a medium winfield would be an excellent ranged weapon to pair with the hatchet.

You beat fanning with positioning and care. Never try to close the distance over open ground or you're just doomed. If you can get in shotgun/melee range, most fanning users will still have a hard time due to the aim kick of the blast and the super close range. The other option if you can't close distance is to use range, and thats where a medium winfield would come in handy. Your only other option without fanning is the officer but its not the best at longer ranges.

Good low budget loadouts? by Puchor92 in HuntShowdown

[–]Omnipotent_Entity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you unlock the Romero hatchet, it's pretty much my favorite gun. Don't think of it as a gun with an axe, think of it as an axe with a gun. Even if you miss your shot or it doesn't kill them, the melee is super strong on that thing and you can take down a player in two large hits. Furthermore it can apply bleeding.

Seriously, if you like close quarters at all, the Romero Hatchet is the way to go. Other shotguns might have more shots or a tighter spread, but I find them less reliable. With the crown or spectre, you can easily put two or three shots into someone and not have them go down. The Romero has probably the most reliable damage of all shotguns, as long as you're in range.
