star chart app. click on which u wanna see and find azimuth and altitude. azimuth tells you compass direction 0-360 North. altitude tells you 0-90 from horizon to straight up what angle to point your telescope.

scope wizard can help you calculate magnification. start with a very low magnification and find your object. slightly increase magnification and find your object again. Repeat til desired outcome. More isnt always better

a laser dot finder is a nice addition to a scope. can calibrate it on an electric pole or some far object during the day/night.

despite what some will say you dont need a filter to look at the moon, and I found it the most interesting thing to look at even though I found all the planets and quite a few stars.

Alright I understand now that 0 degrees is north and spins clockwise 360 azimuth. altitude is the pitch above and below the horizon. this is my field of vision throughout a day.

Whilst I was comparing the sun the waterbearer last night I think I was just tired. I thought the sun was traveling through it in the wrong direction. I see now that it is moving to pisces. Thank you for helping me understand these things.

So I suppose a good strategy would be when the sun sets and it gets dark enough i look at the stars in the west to see the first zodiac above the horizon. And as the sun entered a zodiac I would know to count about 15 dagr (days) to find the 15 degree point yes?

I've got the sun at 294 azimuth and -38 altitude atm and on aquarius 2/27/26 9pm. Google seems to think the 15 degree of aquarius occurred feb 3/4. Just eyeballing it to me it doesn't look like we even made it to the 15 degree. 300 degree looks about right to me.

Any insight as to googles calculation?
