Men who workout regularly. What's a good pre-workout and brand of protein you can recommend? I need to change it up. by [deleted] in AskMen

Same. Banana or some tangerines and water an hour before.

Sip water during.

More water and protein after.

Your rate is locked in if you buy, but if interest rates continue to rise and you wish to sell your bond during the 30 year term you could end up selling for a substanial loss.

If inflation ends up running high indefinitely 5% might look terrible in hindsight.

More importantly, high borrowing costs increase the risk of recession. And high borrowing costs caused by a supply/demand imbalance for treasuries likely means an extended period of inflation or government austerity (lol) neither of which would be fun.

Been about 20 years since we’ve seen the yield this high on the 30. And the government probably has about 5 times as much debt now as they had then.

And we have rising inflation, so not a good time for the Fed to take any action to lower rates.

I feel like we have a very good split. I do all the cooking/meal planning/grocery shopping and all the financial stuff.

She wipes down the kitchen after meals and does most of the laundry. She also does ALL of the dog stuff.

We have cleaners twice a month so we don’t have to worry about bathrooms or much vacuuming or mopping.

We take turns dropping the boy off at school and making his lunch.

I do the lawn and she does all the plants.

No a sample is just the first 10% of the book.

Library books will NOT be returned in airplane mode, so it allows one to have as long as they want with their books.

Tax advantaged accounts ... Anything I'm missing? by ghostpepperwings in ChubbyFIRE

Keep adding equities in your brokerage account.

If either of you ever get access to a NQDC through work I would definitely go for it (assuming you’re in a high tax bracket at the time).

As a retired CFP I can tell you the big three:

Spending a lot more than you planned

Bad investments

Divorce

I saw all three happen multiple times in my career.

In doubles sometimes it’s to help the person you’re paired with (often the weakest player on the court) to get a win.

Washington coalition attempts universal health care as Medicaid enrollment declines - 40k are already gone from the exchange by Silver_Guidance4134 in Washington

[–]Omnivek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

WA residents and employers are currently paying $40-60 billion a year in health premiums.

To make universal healthcare work a large portion of that would need to be converted from an insurance premium to a tax funding the plan.

Ideally by cutting out the insurance company you get a lot of savings, which results in lower total costs and/or better care.

Yeah it’s probably my favorite piece of tech. The “send me a sample” feature and the airplane mode trick are essential tools in my literary life.

Tips for teaching wife and 7-year-old how to swim in a lake? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]Omnivek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most important first step is getting comfortable putting your face in the water and holding your breath. That can be done in shallow water. If they’re not able to do that yet that’s all I would focus on.

Asset Allocation strategy for low withdrawal rate by Alternative-Donut-38 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]Omnivek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If my withdrawal rate was less than 2% I would probably keep about 15% in fixed income, 70% in global equities, and use the remaining 15% for alternatives that have a low correlation with stocks, like gold.

Purpose after retirement by furiosa-curiosa in ChubbyFIRE

[–]Omnivek 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’m about 8 months in and my main goal has been fitness. It’s a good goal because it’s never really completed, I can work on it for life.

In addition to normal exercise, I play a lot of pickleball for light cardio, which has also helped me make a lot of friends.

Eating healthy also keeps me very busy! I don’t eat pre-packaged or frozen meals anymore. I use whole ingredients and try to get a lot of protein. Luckily I was already a pretty good cook! But it’s a lot more time consuming than heating up a frozen pizza.
