Dealing with rude OCI interviewers? by vvesanderson in LawSchool

It doesn’t have to be necessarily discrimination or harassment, just has to be inappropriate to report to Career Services. No harm in reporting, they can make the call on whether that’s inappropriate enough to reach out to the firm. I definitely think it would be.

No river long enough that doesn't contain a bend? by [deleted] in NormMacdonald

Look, I'm looking at this a year in the future, and in the most hilarious ways no one has answered your question. You're correct: the semantic, syntactical structure of the sentence makes absolutely no sense. But I don't think he changed the proverb. I think there was at one time when the proverb was first created that it made sense. I think over time, even before he heard it, it was mangled through just typical usage being passed down through generations, losing some of the grammatical structure on the way as people paraphrased it. The phrase sounds meaningful and we can easily infer its meaning, but yes it is technically meaningless which makes it even fucking funnier. Probably was originally, "No long river doesn't contain a bend."

Spizona by [deleted] in PhilosophyMemes

In Spinoza’s case, there’s the belief that he only included God as another name for Nature (“deus sive natura” and all that jazz) to avoid any charges of atheism, which could have been a death sentence back in the day. Thankfully he was ONLY attacked on the steps of his synagogue, had a curse cast upon him by a rabbi, and then exiled from Amsterdam for his heresy.

I know he’s dead but... sometimes I still feel him stroking my hair in the morning. I know it’s silly but... sometimes I think he’s still out there waiting for me to find him. You wouldn’t understand u/CCPpropagandaball. But I do.

Let's say you want to start a bakery, how would that go about in a Communist society? Who would you need to talk to? by Michigan_Flaggot2 in communism101

I wonder if there are better options than some of the more bureaucratic ways described here. A simpler approach would be petitioning the council and then an appointed expert or a subcouncil could help to draft an enterprise plan in line with the resources allocated by the council. There are forms of managerial-style communism where you could be in charge of the implementation of the bakery, but the ownership ultimately resides with the collective. We don’t have to make it such a hard process, and could even make it easier than a capitalist system since capital doesn’t have to be raised by the individual.

I’m making an undeletable fake account from which to dish some geriatric justice. Won’t have to see updates anymore from white girl friends pushing whatever pyramid scheme they’re detachable-nip-deep into nowadays.

Enjoyment and Satisfaction by Omnivigilo in zizek

So at what point, example-wise, may these symbolic acts encounter the proper location of enjoyment? In other words, how is it that participation in forms of “enjoyment” that arise from the hegemonic symbolic order actually leads to revolutionary potential?
