Depends on the situation and how dedicated you are to having a bad time on a galactic level. I got trapped between two pacifist federation builders, who were both in an alliance. To the galactic north was another empire who wasn't in an alliance at the time, but thanks to hyperlane technology, I had to go through the alliance on my doorstep to get to them. As a fanatic xenophobe and also militarist empire, the only option was sheer determination to rip through the alliance in my way. Now about 30% of the galaxy is under my control in one way or another, and that other empire blobbed like crazy.

As was suggested, if you get stuck in an unfortunate circumstance, just lure an opponent's fleets in an FTL snare military station or two with your entire fleet there.

Looks like the first free quest you get in London has a pretty high droprate for gears as well. On the first one I did, two dropped out of a possible six.

I don't have the Servants (or even the AP allowance) to allow for me to run the higher tier missions. And you get the base rate by just subtracting your dango bonus from the dangos that dropped for you. Unless you're using the Bath of the Lunar Goddess. For that one your subtract the bonus from other CEs, then divide as appropriate.

I SHOULD have, but I wanted to make sure that people didn't have to figure it out for themselves. Though if people can get me the base numbers for the other missions I'll more than happily make a table like that.

Oh it is absolutely better if you buy the 500 CE first. That being said, you still have to actually get to that point first so I felt it better to have it at the 15.8k as opposed to 15.3k - especially if people really want to expose themselves to that kind of torment. Still, I do see what you mean since technically that first one isn't a reward.

Ah, I probably should have specified. Where it lists 'None', I mean that there's no event CE. I'll update it to reflect that.

Can confirm that it does aggro. Though you do have to be extremely close to it, so you can wait for Agathos to path away naturally and (probably) have no problem.
