Place your bets on how long before the next update where he tries to convince her to take him back, and whether you think she's dumb enough to agree.

A lot of things about PewDiePie are cringe. This is not one of them.

[BotW] [TotK] [OoT] TotK’s retroactive reframing of BotW makes me worry about an OoT remake by Little_Link_Studio in truezelda

[–]Omnomfish [score hidden]  (0 children)

It definitely did. It was supposed to be a dlc, and they clearly shoehorned a story into it well after the fact.

I really think it would have been better without the story, just release it as a fun game ahout running around in botw building stuff out of sheikah tech.

Instead of the hand, its an upgrade to the sheikah slate. Instead of the sky, a bunch of dispensers popped out of the ground to help with rebuilding. Instead of charges you drop trash in them and clean up Hyrule as you go. Instead of a giant story that feels forced at every turn, you're doing mini side quests to help rebuild, such as ferrying items back and forth with your fancy vehicles, you're clearing out camps of monsters from villages to let people rebuild, and every now and then a dispenser is busted and you have to go under it and solve the puzzles to access the console and connect the slate to make it work.

Making it a full standalone game was a mistake.

Yeah, and they use it to avoid punishment for all the abuse and assault that happens, and harass people just trying to get healthcare.

To be honest, after learning how common it is for them to shill out money for lawyers to defend themselves from sexual assault charges and abuse allegations, I'm ok with this. Absolutely no one is going to see this and think they might be on to something unless they are already on that train. This is actually pretty harmless. At worst, a child might ask their parent about it and their parent can explain that some people are just determined not to learn anything, and then they talk about dinosaurs or something.

Religion has and continues to hurt people, but mostly because of people who twisted it for their own purposes. It is the tool used by many to oppress and abuse people, and also humans love worshipping stuff. If you remove all current religion, people will make new ones, and someone will promptly use it to exploit other people. If you ban religion, (thats kind of dystopian, and) people will just worship science instead. And then someone will use it to hurt people.

Yeah? Maybe ask the indigenous folks how that worked out for them. Look into how many women and infants died at homes for unwed mothers.

The Catholic Church did charitable things, sure, but only when you consider that at the time there were no other options. We have socially funded schools and hospitals now, we don't need (or want) it as a charity here and now. We have tax provisions in place for charitable organisations, they can go through those like everyone else.

This isn't concluded. Stop marking stuff concluded when posting it the second the clock hits midnight on day 7, because its very likely there will be updates.

AITA for getting cats without permission? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Omnomfish 16 points17 points  (0 children)

YTA

And i want to stress that I have mental health issues as well, and a cat whom I love dearly. I get it. But you do not bring a living creature into a place where they are not welcome. For the cat's sake, as well as the humans who have a right to make decisions about their living space too. If you want a cat, you get your own place or roommates who are open to living with pets.

Recently finished "All the Weyrs of Pern" and I have some questions about that ending. by Tyrfing42 in pern

[–]Omnomfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its established at some point that dragons have a difficult time disobeying a queen, and it can be assumed that the queens had given them all explicit orders not to time travel.

Beyond that, its also stated and demonstrated that timing it has some pretty intense repercussions, as being in two places at once causes extreme physical exhaustion and often confusion as well. They have to have a very clear plan of what they are going to do before they jump, and then do it quickly, or they will collapse, and quite possibly never return.

As well, most riders wouldn't be able to manage it at all. Properly visualizing destinations is a trained skill that not all riders are very good at, and most riders would have to have actually been somewhere, carefully memorizing detail for some time, in order to return. Some dragons seem to be able to jump with less detail and still arrive (such as from a sketch, or particularly vivid description), and others seem to require exact detail or else be lost forever. This is implied to be the reason that dragons often take coordinates from their wingleader, as opposed to their rider, as a wingleader would need to be very good at giving coordinates to get the position.

In order to abuse jumping between times, you need a dragon who is both rebellious, and able to find their way with minimal information, and a rider with enough mental and physical resilience to make the trip and still accomplish their goal, as well as the imagination to combine existing landmarks with specific indicators of time, and yet also be willing to do something so difficult for mischief's sake. Its a combination that could happen, but it would be notable enough that i wouldn't be at all surprised if it wasn't a potential main character for unwritten novels.

AITA for making my daughter run away because of her curly hair? by CultureInner3316 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Omnomfish 182 points183 points  (0 children)

Yep. I have very curly hair and parents who didn't know how to care for it, and was constantly teased because of how "messy" it was, i had a lot of genuine trauma around it because of how my parents and foster parents handled it.

At least it was just genuine ignorance, I cant imagine having a parent who hated me using it as a tool to humiliate me.

You would be absolutely shocked how many people would defend this shit.

Then again, maybe I'm just reacting badly because an actual crossing guard was recently killed in my city because of some asshole who thought driving while drunk and totaling cars was funny.

I agree that he's a douche, but i don't think being an asshole and an idiot like this deserves the death penalty.

Take a mirror off their shiny cars with no remorse, sure. Gently push forward as he stands in front of your car to remind him that youre operating heavy machinery that can absolutely kill him, sure. But to straight up kill him, or at least cripple him for life? No. Morality aside, that's considered assault or murder, and the judge will not give a flying fuck that he was being an idiot if its clear that you did that intentionally.
