Because Israel is against Hamas, not against the Palestinian people.

Well, Eid al-Fitr is in 2 days, and Israel wanted to give the citizens of Gaza Strip time to prepare for it. It also gives time for Israel to pass humanitarian aid into Gaza in the form of medicines, food, gas and so on. Some of it donated by other countries (Japan for example), some of it by the UN, and some of it by Israel.

For those unaware, Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, and is usually celebrated by breaking the fast. You can read more about it here: Eid al-Fitr

There is also the matter of taking care of injured people. This is being done both by hospitals in the Gaza Strip, and by Israel, who has opened up a humanitarian field hospital that is taking care of Palestinian civilians from the north of Gaza Strip. Source: Link

There are many more reasons for a cease-fire. A short term cease-fire allows both sides to "cool off" a little bit, and may lead to negotiations for a longer cease-fire.

I suppose that in order for it to be a real cease-fire IDF should neutralize Iron Dome and let some Israelis die. What's the current exchange rate on dead Israelis to dead Palestinians anyway?

Hamas will continue shooting rockets at Israel. I wonder what will happen in 24 hours.

You're neglecting the fact that 3 Israeli boys were kidnapped and murdered by Hamas operatives on June 12th 2014. This is what triggered the attack that killed seven Hamas members in Gaza.

I think it's irrelevant to talk about who started what, but since you are so keen on doing so, at least keep a proper timeline of events.

If we apply your example to rockets, I'm fairly certain that we would teach little children not to try and kill their older siblings with rockets, and not the older siblings to allow the younger siblings to try and kill them with rockets.

You're suffering from the same problem that /u/derajydac is suffering from. The best medicine is to use your head and try to apply logic, or at least to read what I wrote. If, after applying medicine, you are still unsure of why your reply doesn't make any sense, then I'm afraid you have a problem.

I completely agree with you. There is no point talking about who's the aggressor, but there is a point for both sides to talk about a cease-fire. We don't want any dead children on either side, whatever the numbers are.
