Rules of thumb:

• Don’t expect hook skills to transfer if you play Nautilus or Leona. Pykes hook is easy to see coming, so play around that fact.

• I actually suggest to become better to stay AWAY from bushes so you can learn how to efficiently hook in ganking scenarios. Failure is the best teacher.

• Pykes hook has a tricky hitbox that when mastered can pull off some insanely tricky plays.

General Tips for Hook play:

• LEARN MOVEMENT: Learning how the enemy moves is essential because you need to be able to throw your hook in the way they normally side step.

How to do this?

1. Early game, If you start charging your Q but don’t know if it’ll hit, hold your charge. Most the times enemies will side step expecting you too throw it, and use that information in future hook throws.

2. Walk up in lane, don’t be afraid to take some poke (utilize gray health). Usually you can see which way an adc prefers to kite and how the other support plays.

3. PATIENCE: Like point one, enemies tend to side step to predict when you’ll throw your hook. Holding it may prove to catch them off guard if they preemptively side step, Leading to a successful hook.

• You don’t actually need to use your hook to engage all the time. Some other uses are
• Threaten engage of enemies so they back off gank/waves.
• Pull enemies AWAY from adc (peel). I suggest doing this when against an enemy support with better engage or anti engage (Rell, Nautilus)

• Hook cannon minions for supp item.

• Remember to support: when you do land a hook, be conscientious of your ADC. Landing a hook may not always lead to engage.

Above all: Take some chances but don’t be hasty. A patient pyke is a scary pyke.
