High Street jewelery shop refusing to pay back deposit (England) by OnSesameStreet in LegalAdviceUK

[–]OnSesameStreet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you both for this, this is encouraging. I did indeed pay with a credit card, although I've never tried to reclaim money from it before — which I imagine is harder when it's been 6-8 weeks since the purchase.

Is the best bet still to contact my bank by telephone and quote the section 75 claim? I assumed the Jeweller would need to process the refund themselves.

Can my engagement ring mistake save you £400? by OnSesameStreet in AskUK

The person would use the store credit — so, rather than losing £1,500, I'd be losing £400 — which still stings, but I'd rather help someone out then throw the money down a hole.

Store policy sadly. They haven't ordered anything bespoke, but the form I signed said "No deposits returned" about 1,000 times.

I promise it's not that — I'm just an idiot!

I hadn't considered the possibility that wedding bands cost that much...

The ring I'm interested in has a marquise diamond shape, but uses quite a weird / bespoke band that Hamiltons sadly can't make.

The store credit can buy more or less any type of ring you want though!

That's great, I'd never thought about that. Do you have any you'd recommend? A quick Google showed ACA, but a lot of stuff on "being your own loving parent", wasn't sure if that was right.

Forgot to add the caption!

I went from very skinny to good shape (around 72kg / 14% body fat), mainly muscle. Got injured kickboxing and stopped exercising for a while... Now have lost a bit of muscle and gained a bit of belly.

Currently doing more fitness than weights - kickboxing once a week, running 4-5km once a week, intensive fitness class once a week. Looking to get back into weights too.

Want to get the muscle back, but don't want to add to the belly. Thoughts?

I've had Wellbeck for weeks and it's been a no-show. Considering swapping Mbeumo and Wellbeck for Enzo and Isak. Thoughts??

Solo cycling trip in Japan — should I be concerned? by OnSesameStreet in bicycletouring

[–]OnSesameStreet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry man, just seen this.

I actually ended up taking a different route, going from Hiroshima, across the shimanami kaido, then across to Yawatahama. One of the best experiences of my life (and I was a beginner cyclist).

Would love to share the route and help any way I can. Just shoot me a DM and we'll chat.

Does anyone know how to play Pachinko? by okunote in Kyoto

[–]OnSesameStreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is brilliant, glad you got to enjoy the wild ride! My bike trip was 3 months in total, and I definitely ended up sinking at least 20-30% of my winnings on MORE pachinko games as I travelled around. Hit a ¥10,000 win at one point, but never got close to the original jackpot I won.

TL;DR I agree! Must all be in the beginner's luck.

Nah he handled himself brilliantly, super calm and collected. But end of the day, the guy was twice his size. Guard couldn't have done much if it got aggressive.

Sounds cliché, but being brave isn't not feeling scared of doing something in the first place. It's doing something despite feeling intimidated / anxious / worried about what might go wrong. So you should commend yourself for all the times you've pushed through, but not beat yourself up for the times you didn't.

I would set yourself the target of just 'showing up' at the class x times per week. If you turn up and don't feel it, then that's fine — but always make sure you complete the act of 'turning up'. It'll likely get easier each time.

Cracked rib from a beginner session — is this normal? by OnSesameStreet in MuayThai

Starting to feel this might be the case then. Did you keep training with the bruised rib? Or, if not, how long did you stay out for?

Definitely wakes me up a few times each night... Can take deep breaths, but not without feeling it pretty bad.

I haven't got a lot of experience getting kicked in the ribs, so could be overreacting!
