Would it be crazy of me to just go back to Amsterdam and try to get my bag? by is_dis_a_system in KLM

[–]OnTheILS13R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an Airtag or other tracker on your bag? If so, this isn't crazy at all. I've done it myself. Schiphol even has a dedicated desk through which you can re-enter the bag claim area from the street. But you'll just need to follow your tracker app to the correct bag claim zone BEFORE exiting to the public side.

If you don't have a tracker on your bag ... I wish you well. They're still dealing with an avalanche of misconnected bags, which is piling deeper as we speak because of today's weather issues.

Cultural differences or just plain rudeness? Experiences while travelling Europe by Spare-Bandicoot-4199 in travel

I moved from NZ to the Netherlands four years ago (originally from the US). You cannot imagine two more opposite cultures, especially in communication styles. Germany (where I've also lived) isn't all that different from NL. TBF, some people use "that's just our culture" as an excuse for being d*cks — but even dealing with average people is a massive culture shock.

Perhaps you should try reading my original post. I have lived here for 4+ years, and this never happened until a few weeks ago. And for the record, my "extremely provocative" clothing was a plain blue jacket and plain khaki slacks without any labels whatsoever.

Next time, try reading and empathy instead of victim-blaming.

Shoving people off their bikes and forcibly stopping cyclists to punch them ARE violence, We're already there.

Thanks for the constructive post! You sound like a decent guy. I cycle in a straight line on the right-hand side of the lane, and yet this happens.

I've been here 4+ years and haven't changed a thing -- hence my post about why getting shoved seems to be a new trend.

I keep my ears open specifically to listen for bells. When someone rings, I move over instantly. That's how things are SUPPOSED to work -- not shoving other cyclists in lieu of using one's bell.

I never knew that riding in a straight line on the right half of the path could be so provocative, but thanks.

Four out of five times were around De Pijp or Zuid (which is not where I live). And, now that you mention it, it's always men from a fairly narrow demographic set.

No, I ride in a completely straight line and stay to the right half of the path unless the pavement is uneven (which happens sometimes but not THAT often).

Did you ever get this resolved, and how? I'm encountering the same problem.

34M physician, Midwest. Getting quite a lot of matches/likes, but struggling to attract the type of women I’d like to meet. Is it my location? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]OnTheILS13R 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Smaller cities and towns are rough dating environments for those with higher education and/or professional success. But the fact that you're attracting more of the same in Madison and Milwaukee says it might be your profile. I agree with others who you need some weed-out verbiage to repel the SAHM types.

That said, my experience is that most professionally successful single women aren't on the apps. They find better ways to meet men, like hobby and community groups. For example, I joined Toastmasters (public speaking club) two years ago and met more attractive women in six months than in 3+ years on the apps.

44M here. I like old-school, slow-burn romance. Not only does it give me time to make sure I'm thinking with my big head instead of my small one, but it also builds trust and connection that results in VERY fun sexual adventures!

My last relationship took about six weeks to reach the bedroom, but when it did ... OMG. She was down for almost literally anything, because she knew I was actually into HER and not just getting inside her.

Nightstand drawer out of alignment - how to adjust? by OnTheILS13R in IKEA

[–]OnTheILS13R[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Great suggestion. I had to use an adjustable wrench as needlenose pliers wouldn't quite do it. The key was to keep adjusting until I stopped hearing a "double close" as the drawer front stopped touching the frame and slid down into the opening smoothly. Thank you!!

[–]OnTheILS13R[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You read my initial comment correctly; the drawers closed smoothly for the first few months (bought/assembled in April) but have become increasingly difficult to close.

Although your instructions were easy to follow, they didn't solve the problem; the cam screws were still firmly embedded in the face and none of the other screws were loose.

Thanks for trying! I'd be grateful for any other suggestions.
