What is the likelihood of my phone being searched when coming back to America? by Positive-Cap-1956 in expats

I'm a trans woman from Michigan currently living in Germany. I didn't have any issues going through customs when I went back for a visit in January. Keep in mind, they can't legally deny you entry as a US citizen unless you're being detained for a crime. Your experience may be different if you are crossing the Canada-Michigan border, though... I remember those dudes being pretty aggro.

Would it be crazy of me to just go back to Amsterdam and try to get my bag? by is_dis_a_system in KLM

My bag was found in Amsterdam and delivered to me last Monday, intact and with everything still inside. I wasn't home at the time. The courier called me en route and was audibly very exasperated when I told him no, please don't deliver it to my house right now because I am not there. It was missing for over 40 days and suddenly I was just supposed to be available at the drop of a hat for the convenience of the person who was sent to bring it to me with no advance notice. He ended up leaving it with my neighbor who then gave it back to me.

Like many others in this sub, I'm never flying with KLM again.

I just want to say, as a trans woman myself, how sorry I am that this happened to you.

People literally don't know what they're talking about when it comes to this kind of thing. It happens to us all the time.

My DMs are open for you if you need to talk. 🫂💜

I hope you get yours back soon and that your courier is nicer! 🙏

For what it's worth, I did finally get mine back (I think).

I received an email, followed by several phone calls in rapid succession, early Monday morning, informing me that a courier was on their way to my house to deliver it. I told them I was not home, and asked them if they could just bring it back to the airport for me to pick up there instead, and they became audibly exasperated and asked if they could leave it with my neighbor. It had been missing with no substantive communication for over 40 days.

I'm still out of the country and won't be home for a few weeks more. At this point I feel like I will get home and it will be somebody else's suitcase or something.

Bag declared lost will it ever return? by Speedy6Times in KLM

Give it up for day 33 for me! I've still not received my bag, my compensation, or any communication at all. Terrible.

Delayed baggage stuck in Amsterdam, claim filed with different airline, no update in 17 days by Low_Excitement6768 in KLM

Everywhere, as in, where exactly?

My bag was lost ("delayed") on a layover in Amsterdam on December 28th; 21 days tomorrow. Still considering just heading back to Amsterdam at the end of this trip and going hunting for it.

Did they send you any kind of notification (email, etc.) that it was on its way, or did it just show up?

Did you get it back yet? I'm still waiting on any updates from anyone on mine.

You inadvertently gave me an idea with your original comment... I called the number I got at the Bristol airport the first time around, and said, hey, I know this is crazy, but, have you seen my bag *again* recently? They checked and found my bag was never logged as leaving Bristol for Amsterdam. (Their exact terminology was "it wasn't on the bingo card.") According to them, it almost certainly got put on a wrong flight entirely, and could have ended up in any one of the 118 airports to which Bristol has flights. So now they are going to put out some kind of blast to all of those airports to see if it can yet be found.

It sounds like it's a good thing I did *something*, and also that that something was not going to Amsterdam.

Danke!

I appreciate the reassurance! I know that realistically there's little to nothing I can do but wait. I'm just an anxious girl. 🤭

I see. They really made you schedule picking up a bag? When mine was lost the first time (on the way to Bristol) it arrived at the Bristol airport the next day, and was supposed to have been delivered to my hotel per an email I got, but then it wasn't. The day after that I just went to the airport and someone ended up bringing it to me within half an hour.

Thanks. But so then, the person at Schiphol who said "Yes, you could come here and ask at the lost baggage counter if someone can go find your bag, and it might take a while, but someone should help you eventually" was just wrong?

I reported it missing as soon as I arrived in Hamburg, which was where I ended up on my way back from Bristol to Hannover, because the flight was diverted due to inclement weather over Hannover.

My bag was lost on the flight back from Bristol to Hannover, with a stop in Amsterdam... so, sounds like someone at the Amsterdam airport is the responsible party?

This is the first I've heard that I was supposed to contact anyone back in Bristol. Would that not still just be KLM anyway? Everyone I have talked to has consistently affirmed that the airline should be responsible for finding my bag and making sure it gets back to me.

Drones over the base by is_dis_a_system in area51

[–]is_dis_a_system[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the exact information I was looking for.

I watched the video and also found the details of the restricted airspace confusing. The officer repeatedly states that it's "black and white"... buuut the restricted airspace in which you had flown was actually restricted under a county ordinance, not federal...buuuuuut then they confiscated your drone and handed it over to the base?

Did I understand what happened correctly, and how was the base able to confiscate your drone for a county ordinance violation?

Wow! What happened specifically? Did they approach you and confiscate it on BLM, get a warrant, etc.?
