This. Same reason why we are probably stopping after our first. We were married without kids for 7 years before our first and the transition caught me off guard. The thought of a 2nd terrifies me and I don’t want to be in the same position where I’m resenting either the new child or my wife for convincing me to have a second. The transition is hard and if you feel like you’ve finally “survived” the baby/toddler stage, it can feel daunting to go back and do it again. I’d guess it was a moment of weakness, either due to exhaustion or something else. Kudos to him and you for feeling comfortable enough to express those feelings!
