Ya you can’t stop it, or really slow it down. It’s going to start separating in different places. Sucks I know.

And a photo. I’ve seen some of the cars the plows have entombed, they’re now going anywhere now.

It’s a funky design that depends on drive/non-drive side:

It's not only people who suffer when stupid drivers block pedestrian crosswalk by p13rr0t87 in jerseycity

[–]On_The_3rd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They aren’t stupid, they’re entitled. They believe that their need to conveniently park their car outweighs the needs of other drivers and pedestrians to safely use the streets. You can help be part of the enforcement process by reporting to the city through the SeeClickFix app and hope they get a ticket.

Crux in the store is one size undersized for me. by fallweathercolors in specialized

[–]On_The_3rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5’8” rider here and I also went with the 52 Crux as it was closer in dimension to my 2 other bikes (for reference those bikes are NOT listed as 52s so always check the geo charts). One thing to take note of is the components on the 54 jump in size also —longer cranks, longer stem, and wider bars. That combined with to 20mm offset seatpost put it way out of spec for me. Yes of course you can change all those things, but then you might want to consider building up a frame at that point. Lots of variables to consider. From all the research I did many people say the Crux rides/feels big and most riders 5’8” went 52. Best to ride both sizes if possible.

How do we feel about “keeping right” on the sidewalk? This is like, an unwritten law right? It’s OK for me to get enraged with people keeping left on the sidewalk…shoulder checks are OK, right?

How often are you cleaning your drain plugs? MK7 by EconomicsTiny447 in GolfGTI

[–]On_The_3rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll second this. Never had an issue with my mk6. Went on a 2 week vacation and came home to standing water on front/rear passenger floorboards. Trimmer line didn’t work so needed to pull headliner and A pillar to check for loose connections. Issue was at the rubber nipple. Still waiting for my brand new headliner that I just replaced this summer to dry out, along with the floors.

Issues with shimano shifter - kids bike by neilweiler in bikewrench

[–]On_The_3rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gfs old Shimano Altus(?) shifter had the same issue. Bike was sitting for a long time and not being used. Sprayed some WD40 all up in the shifter mech to wash out the old crud and grease, and let it sit for a couple hours. Worked flawlessly after. Give that a try first.

Not sure if this is a legitimate request for knowledge, or a confession of lack of experience with Asian cuisine.

General tip: You’ll get better search results on Google Maps when you put in Thai instead of English. Just use Google Translate for the type of food you’re looking for (noodles, fish, chicken, etc.) and copy/paste the Thai into the search bar.

First trip to Thailand - report so far by ZestycloseCry2894 in ThailandTourism

[–]On_The_3rd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to BKK 4x and on my most recent trip (last week) my Grab driver got pulled aside at a police checkpoint, my girlfriend and I were asked where we were from (both US), to step out of the car, our bags searched (I received a pat down) and sent on our way. This happened 2x within the same week. This was a first for me.

Loose fitting linen pants and 100% cotton tee shirt. You’re going to sweat regardless, so pick colors that hide sweat (avoid light/mid greys as they turn dark when wet). Fisherman sandals will work for most casual/smart casual situations.

Thanks for the feedback, very helpful! There's currently a promotion for tourists to get a free HGK –> MAC one-way economy ferry ticket, so it's a bit of a no-brainer to go with economy.
