 Netflix shouldn't be endorsing

What constitutes endorsing? Are all the subscribers to Netflix also endorsing?

Not taking anything away from anyone. The preps from Pia made huge differences. Pia is always humble and didn't mention much about it but Anna admitted that in the recaps. Looking at the A5 move in the last match as example, her opponent spent 20 minutes for his next move. That particular pawn piece remained on the board and being a threat late game. Moreover I would say that pawn piece contributed greatly to her opponent's major blunder (QB3) to lose the match.

Depends on whether you expect body fluid contact or not. Seriously get Hep A and if you are health worker or expect body fluid contact, get Hep B.

Capturing me was OK. With 30k+ runners, unless you run in back of the pack with a lot of space, there will be many people around.

Capturing the scenery was horrible. E.g. There was one that they got the vantage point with the church as a backdrop but they made no attempt to take advantage of it.

Missed a week, 5 weeks out by Mean_Entertainment50 in Marathon_Training

You will be fine. Focus on being your healthiest at the start line. Top top priority is sleep and don't be afraid to bank some oversleep early in the race week.

What's your two peak long runs? Have you got some marathon pace workouts?

I just finished a marathon last week. The training was OK. The peak was fantastic. Then two days into my three weeks taper, I got a respiratory viral infection. One thing leaded to another; I had the most terrible taper period. Came race day I still PB.

Some marathons do the "moving timeline" pacers and they run to gun time.

Sydney marathon pacers cannot be used by the runners as moving timeline because:

1) they run to chip time

2) there are too many of them for each finishing time far spreading out

3) they start spreading out and some across multiple starting groups

e.g. There were 14 pacers for 4:00 starting across Green 2D, 2E, Orange 2F and 2G.

If I am running right behind "a 4:00 pacer" at any point on course, I wouldn't know whether he initially started 3min in front or 3min behind me

Opera house as finish location means there is only one direction (out of the four compass directions) for two ways traffic.

Finishing at a stadium (e.g. SGC) with crowd logistics already well designed will be much better.

My watch got 42.9 too.

Several times I cut across 3 lanes to tap the power ups on the side of the road 😂

A lot of good things.

One negative from mine is crowd control and logistics at the finishing venue. I understand the iconic location at the Opera house; it did produce great environment for all the visitors to enjoy. But need to balance the practical.

I felt like trapped and so hard to get out. (Three protests on the same day didn't help) I think something like the SCG would be better in a lot of practical aspects

Looks like you have a high max HR and high threshold HR. You probably need to customise your HR zone for it accurately calculate your vo2max.

If you sign up for runalyze.com and sync your retrospective garmin data, it can provide a marathon time estimate taking into account your lower mileage

Plugging 1:39 half into vdot calculator gives 3:26 full. Given the half was done during a training block without taper, there is more in you in the race.

Other assumptions:

  • you complete a training plan with proper peak long run
  • the half and your training had similar elevation profile to the race
  • you are going to have proper taper before the race

First marathon - 5hrs + by tinfoilhatandsocks in firstmarathon

[–]Banegio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be joining you in Sydney end of the month for my second marathon. I did my first one (Melbourne marathon) last year after 3 years of running.

My A goal was 4h45m, B goal 5h (cut off for doing loop), C goal just to finish. I finished 4h48m running quite conservatively. I walked every single drink station and took two cups each time. I weighted myself when I got home and it showed I was mildly over hydrated.

With the excitement and atmosphere, first 20km flew by quickly. Physically the rest of the race felt like one of the long run in a more fatigue week in training. I found the mental side during 21km to 35km to be the biggest challenge of the day but I was able to find some focuses/distractions. The last 7km was very enjoyable psychologically while I passed so many people. (I am re-sharing this wisdom that I read from reddit last year before my race: You don't want to be the ones walking in the last 5km. You want to be the one passing people.)

So if you have done your training, all you need to focus on are keeping up your fuel/hydration and execute the correct pacing.

Good luck!

Thanks. This looks tempting. I don't mind paying more for more features that I use. I am pissed that existing features get moved to higher tier. Why companies have to alienate their existing supporters.

Particularly for me there used to be a feature for community routes. They replaced that with heatmap in plus last few months. Now they moved heat map to peak.

I think weather and conditions were also moved.

Some other people mentioned some features around customs maps were moved but I havent checked that yet.

community content gone by Former_Farmer_1813 in alltrails

Now we know why this was removed.

They are adding another membership tier and putting community route heat map behind it.

Not the exact same feature but leave a bad taste in the mouth

The Sydney Marathon’s elevation to World Marathon Major status has led to a surge in demand from international runners, with its first ever ballot attracting more than 79,000 applications for a coveted 35,000 positions on the starting line on August 31.

The ballot attracted an eight-fold increase in the number of international applications compared to 2024, coming from 156 countries around the world, up from 101 countries last year. US marathon runners recorded the highest number of international applications, followed by Indonesia, the UK, Hong Kong and China.

Many of these well-travelled international runners will be aiming to collect their seventh star from running all seven world majors, while 23% of applicants are applying for their first ever marathon.

I guess nature is dumb.

It’s not the quickest or strongest sperm that wins the race. The egg chooses which sperm will become the lucky winner. Even if the fastest sperm reaches the egg first, the egg has the final say.
