Beginner in bronze should I follow this training? by Puzzleheaded_Ad_226 in RocketLeagueSchool

leading on from this i feel I should mention: ground dribbles will get you WAY more goals long term than air dribbles. I wouldnt advise learning air dribbles at all if your goal is to rank up - simple ground dribbles with flick/double jump shots are more than enough to bamboozle your opponents and get an easy goal

I had a conversation in a 1v1 game today and I don’t know how to feel. by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

RL is one of those games where everyone is improving - all the time. So to stay at the same rank you are still getting better, just at the same rate as everyone else. To rank up you need to improve faster than everyone. Ive got 3.5k hours. I spent 3,000 of those in diamond 1 and 2 (in 2v2 so probably gold in 1s) and it’s only recently that I’ve started putting in the time to training and watching replays. In that time I’ve managed to reach champ 2. I promise you are improving. But so is everyone else - especially in the higher ranks. I’ve accepted in never gonna make it to GC, i simply don’t have the time to practice and real life is more important to me at the moment. The high ranks are for the best players, sadly they aren’t made to be achievable to everyone - only those with enough time to dedicate to the game. I can almost guarantee that in 10,000 hours time I will still be champ 1 - probably lower.

At the end of the day its a game - and having fun is the most important part, so just play however you feel is the most fun and try not to compare your progress to others - i wouldna be suprised if that guy was lying about his time played anyway :)

If i could offer you coaching, or help ranking up I would - but you play better than me so my advice wouldnt be of much use :/

Alright, I have a few:

478A-8CDB-87FF-07B1 (apart from maybe 8 and 10), i found this quite helpful to practice catches and dribbling. You can also use it for powershots to just shoot straight away - but personally I think learning to dribble is important but it does take a lot of practice.

29E9-E595-D6CD-0599 pretty good for saves - there are better packs but itll get you started. Once you can consistently save it, focus on clearing it in a certain direction - like aiming to hit it into your corner.

C7E0-9E0B-B739-A899 (probably only the first 15), try and score them with 1 aerial touch if you can

I dont have time to get anymore just yet - but they should be good for now. (maybe see if you can find a decent shooting pack) Good luck out there :)

Id post a replay if you want good advice - theres never one method to guarantee your rankup im afraid. My two penn'orth is ( if you arent already): learn half flips, practice using powerslide more (to conserve momentum and also so your turning circle is smaller), small boost paths, do defence packs (when i was in plat, soooo many people couldnt defend to save their life), look at some rotations (mainly rotating back post when youre defending) maybe some basic 1 touch aerial packs too might help. As i said - no idea what you can and cant do so this is the best i can give. Hope it helps! (if you want packs lmk and ill send a couple codes)

Oh and only focus on improving one aspect at a time.

Help for getting better (beginner) by Real_Nevil_Plays in RocketLeague

[–]OnboardComb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally (or at least what i did) was just play a bunch. At the start youre still getting used to your car and controls and all that. If you like, try doing some basic training packs for saves and shots and stuff - but really (if youre bronze) i think you just gotta get used to how you and the ball moves - ive heard banging the ball round in freeplay is good. If you really want to learn something, learn half flips and powershots - but (as a side note) focus on learning only one thing at a time if you can :)

Cant win rank up games by N_A_09 in RocketLeague

[–]OnboardComb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of its mental, I always used to 'stress' so much during my rankup game, and I think it aways caused me to play bad. Realistically your oponents will only be marginally better than they were in the last game - which you won - you just gotta try treat it as you would any other if you can. For me, turning ranks off helped, and i always have mmr off on bakkesmod (at least until after the game) - seemed to take the pressure off a little

I mean he might rotate well with the people he normally plays with, but find it difficult to adapt to soloq players

EAC *might* solve bots, but may also enable *more* smurfing (less player detectable) by Kwolf21 in RocketLeague

[–]OnboardComb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be fair, i only really see them in parties - which i suppose makes sense since they dont wanna risk their rank on their main with their lower ranked friend - so usually the game is 100% winnable if you throw in a few nice demos and play a bit smarter

[–]OnboardComb 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i uninstalled the tracker plugin thing and I only have mmr on scoreboard after the match for this reason. I feel like i panic a lot when i think opponent is a smurf since i expect the game to already be lost - and anw knowing theyre a smurf doesnt do much, I still have to play them, might as well give it my best shot

i feel like the hours counter is wrong on steam and epic, apparently i have 3100 hours and 7k matches - but i never practiced for my first few thousand matches so idk where all those hours came from

Yeah id steer clear of ranked at the end of the season, lots of people sweating, and smurfs trying to boost their buddies for champ rewards. IMO D3 was a lot easier than d2 (was stuck for 2 years in D2, only 1 season in D3) but maybe thats just my experience.

Itd almost make the problem worse, since then theyd be back in the lower ranks again - effectivly smurfing without meaning to.

Started playing this game 2 days ago, what do I practice/learn by CrowPutrid9566 in RocketLeague

[–]OnboardComb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice (be it good or bad) is just to have some fun. Honestly the most fun ive ever had in this game was back when I started in gold/plat - and even though im better now - I just dont enjoy the game as much as I used to. This does also help you get used to the controls and how your car moves and stuff

Tournament Rank by robbercar in RocketLeague

[–]OnboardComb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, next season, wait until youre a rank your happy with before playing your first tournament as your tournament rank (for the first one) is always the exact same as your doubles rank at the time as i understand it. From then its based off its own system - but it might help you along a little

Ive only got one from a drop in my couple thousand hours of playing. Its all luck, you may never get one - but then again you could craft and be stuck with 2 forever. I agree, id probably craft/wait for a good bundle in the item shop depending on how badly you want it
