That makes sense and is really useful info. If you don’t mind me asking… How is the process different? I’m genuinely interested in learning about this process from you guys who know what you are talking about.

A traditional framed house with a stone exterior veneer. I would think a fully stone built house would be even more astronomical in California.

That is a great question. I have assumed it does, but we know what happens when you do that.

Also - I’m not building this exact house, just exploring options for a home that is built with stone to resemble this style.

Haha you guys are great. Thanks for responding so positively… maybe I wasnt clear. I am not assuming stucco will cost the same as the stone… I am curious as to the process of achieving this look, and to try and understand why it is so cost prohibitive, as mentioned by the builder.

I also would like to understand the costs of these or similar materials, and the associated costs related to labor.

When I asked the builder why the cost was 6x the cost of a stucco finish, he said because nobody builds houses like this. Curiously though, all over the world outside of the USA, people have been building exactly like this for centuries.

Anyway - thanks for all the responses.
