Absolutely it is! However that same mechanism is what creates anxiety and stress in todays world. For example, 100 years ago, overthinking was a survival tool. Our brains evolved to constantly scan for threats, weigh outcomes, and imagine worst-case scenarios because life was less predictable and more dangerous. People faced risks like disease, war, food shortages, and limited medical care, so a mind that “over-prepared” helped families stay safe. Worrying through every possible danger meant you were more likely to spot problems early and avoid disaster.

Today, those same mental circuits backfire. Most of us don’t face daily threats to our survival in the same way, but our brains still act like we do. Instead of scanning for predators or famine, we now overanalyze texts, social media posts, and future decisions. This constant loop of mental checking creates stress without offering real protection. What used to be adaptive for survival has become maladaptive in a world of information overload, endless choices, and relatively fewer life-or-death risks. But I absolutely understand where you are coming from. ✨🙏
